Introduction
The current environment has seen changes in the manner through which people engage in their activities. As time has progressed, people have made it necessary to have different charity groups rising to ensure that they act accordingly. With the changes in the economic and social structure of society, it is critical to adhere to the advice offered by various activists for this will lead to a more sustainable environment for the current and future generations. One of the most common issues that have gained the attention of not only activists but also national leaders is that of global warming and global climate change. Currently, people through industries and personal activities disregard the importance of environmental conservation, and this had them polluting the environment and engaging in other activities that put the ecosystem at risk. It is vital to review the history of charities for climate change issues, the drivers revolving around it, and through this, there is the assurance that people can comprehend the importance of environmental management. Consequently, ecological preservation will be imminent and therefore see a safer environment for everybody.
History of Climate Change
The debate on climate change began over 200 years ago but was not very serious. However, scientists started taking the issue seriously when in 1938, Callender Guy stated that the reason why there was an increased warmth in the 19th century came from the fact that atmospheric carbon dioxide had increased by 10% (Stegemann & Ossewaarde, 2018). Most of the scientists at the time did not take the matter seriously, just like their predecessors (Bristow & Ford, 2016). Hans Suess disregarded the notion in the year 1957 when he noted that there was a buffering system that ensured seawater did not hold on to a lot of carbon dioxide.
Through comprehension that seawater was not the cause of the increased carbon dioxide in the air made scientists start considering that probably it was the humans that had caused this problem. It was in the early 1960s that activists began pushing for this awareness, stating that humanity was at risk and without changes, the future generations would not survive. Charles Keeling, in the year 1958 started carrying out individual tests to understand the amount of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air and did this in a laboratory in Hawaii (Dessler & Parson, 2019). From the research, he identified that the amount of atmospheric Carbon dioxide had increased as compared to previous figures that had been calculated by scientists at the turning of the 19th century.
From the 1960s, evidence of global warming has increased, and this is because the scientists came to carry out their specific experiments and realized indeed the environment was changing. Michael Mann, in the year 1998, published an analysis of the temperature of the globe annually over the past millennium (Dessler & Person, 2019). The report went by the title hockey stick graph, and from this graph, it was possible to note the increased amounts of temperatures as time has progressed. The scientists further identified the fact that the new industries were the reasons as to why the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere had increased.
Population Growth
It is estimated that with the continued behavior of people concerning the environment, the population of the current climate will increase by 50% in the next 50 years. The rate of population growth as it stands currently is wanting but with the increased introduction of industries in the urban areas, more people are finding this rather lucrative. It is essential to note that this is a negative aspect because, with more industries and the congestion of urban areas, there is a reduction in the number of resources that people will get. The population will only grow but the globe will not expand and the consequent of this comprehension is the fear that people will engage in terrible activities just as a means to satisfy their needs.
Some of the activities that people might engage in include fights and criminal activities to obtain what they require (Fiske et al., 2018). Moreover, there will be a struggle among nations fighting for power to prove themselves supreme. Notably, the current environment has already seen this from the ongoing race to control by the super or developed countries currently in existence. It is also essential to note that there will be health complications. With a small space to occupy, it will be difficult for people to have proper sanitation that is essential in everybody's life. It is thus vital to ensure that there is better management of the climate and consequently see to it that the future is safe.
Population Distribution and Dynamics
It is essential to note that the population dynamics will also change owing to climate change. As climate will change, it is crucial to note that people will engage in different activities for the satisfaction of their needs. People will have to move to places where they deem to be less concentrated and occupy these areas. The hosts or rather the natives of these areas will not be welcoming for they will feel threatened because they feel as if the new population will take up their resources. As a result of these changes, the consequent of this will be the eruption of fights and other clashes that will see people injured and to extreme circumstances even killed in these struggles.
Another point that might lead to struggles is the failure to communicate effectively. With the population distributed to different places in an uneven manner, there is the worry that the inability to have a common language will raise speculation as to the intent of the other groups. The predictions might increase to the point that they might engage in plots to harass and harm each other (Jorgenson et al., 2019). Urbanization has a massive impact on the consumption patterns of the people living in a particular area, and it is always essential to note that with increased climate change towards the negative, the consequent of this will be imminent failure to develop as the world.
Overall Economic Development
It is also essential to note that there will be economic development owing to the aspect of climate change. An imperative factor to consider is the fact that economic growth concerning this is that it can be both positive and can also be detrimental. The negative aspects relating to this appear to be more as compared to the positive factors. For example, there is a direct relationship between diet and the Gross Domestic Product in such a manner that when the Gross Domestic Product of a particular country increases to a certain point, there is the consequent of the global economy growing much faster than the rate of growth of the population. With the gradient, one can note that there will be a problem because there will be fewer economic resources as compared to the number of people in a particular setting (Fiske et al., 2018). Comprehending the manner through which the stated matter can be resolved is essential for it ensures there is better comprehension of the means through which the environment can be determined.
One also notes that with economic growth, there is a high chance that the competition for natural resources will also increase. For example, aspects such as land and water will be sought for highly in a well-functioning environment. Moreover, it is impossible to satisfy everybody in any given setting (Fiske et al., 2018). Looking at the decisive factor coming from the change in the economy, and this is in relation to redistribution. If there is a surplus production owing to economic development, then there is the assurance that it can all be put back to increase the initial resources.
Consumption Patterns
It is also essential to review the manner through which consumption patterns make up a drive relating to the aspect of climate change. It is imperative to note that the contemporary environment has dramatically changed and this is concerning the manner people consume or rather the source of food for people in the current environment. It has been identified that in the contemporary environment, farm processes have been a significant source of carbon dioxide emission, and this is where many people ensure that they operate various machinery in livestock production.
Initially, it was recognized that the transport sector was the major source of emissions. The current environment has seen a change in this where many people are engaging in these farming activities and putting the environment at risk. It is essential to note that without awareness, people will continue using these methods as a source of money without considering the impact that they have on the environment (Fiske et al., 2018). With increased prosperity, people have managed to purchase meat where they can consume it as often as they wish. Through the comprehension of this, then there is an understanding that the processes that lead to carbon emission in the farming sector will continue increasing.
When the environment is managed by engaging in farming practices that do not require processing such as that of meat, there is the assurance that the levels of carbon emissions are well maintained. Moreover, it is possible for the various institutions to focus on the second menace and this into consideration is the transport sector. With proper management of the transport sector then there is the assurance that the environment will become rather conducive and people will have healthy lives now and even for the future generations that follow.
Natural Resources Competition and Constraints
It is critical to note that various drivers are related to the development, and some include economic growth. It is identified that economic growth has a significant effect on natural resources. Increased competition and resource constraints comprise drivers that can affect the production of food in any given community in a negative manner (Jorgenson et al., 2019). The amount of food that would be produced would be immense, and with the high rate of production, there is the upcoming competition, and this is not the positive form of competition but negative competition which very unhealthy in any industry.
Various aspects, such as the fertilizer present in these farms and the amount of water that they use to water their plants also offer a massive deficit in the natural resources. It is also critical to go through the aspect of constraints (Jorgenson, 2019). Lack of adaptation to the various physical limitations of resources, there are numerous associated factors that are affected. Some of the affected include the distribution systems that become weaker, and the relevant infrastructure lacks the essence that is required.
Impact on the Current Environment
The current climate change has had a rather significant impact on the lives of people in the contemporary environment. One of the effects of this climate change is the increase in wildfires present in many parts of the world and more so California in the United States. When these fires take place, they burn high amounts of natural habitat, consequently affecting the lives of birds and other animals that take shelter in the trees (Hallegatte et al., 2015). The reason why the wildfires are such frequent is the fact that when the increased heat from the sun lights up a single dry leaf on the ground, it might ignite other leaves and the consequent of this is the spread of wildfire.
Another effect of this wildfire is the melting of the ice-caps. Areas such as the Arctic are some of the most beautiful places in the world bearing smart to watch ice and a...
