Introduction
The two Buddha status were built 500AD, and 554 AD were the symbols of enlightening Buddhist and cultural wonder of the world. The ISIS and Taliban latest war against idolatry led to the destruction of the ancient Buddha status claiming that they were doing as per the direction is given by their god to end idol worshiping. It is alleged that the destruction of idols will make the world to look down Islamic religion. The act was considered as the cultural and religious cleansing from idol worship all over the Islamic states.
Religion or faith-based influence should not play a part in the art world. First, the ancient idols and artifacts preserve a long time history about the evolution of religion, and the information needs to be shared to the subsequent generation. Second, protecting ancient idols is different from worshiping them; therefore the individuals religious believes need to spare the cultural heritage of the Buddhists. Third, the religious believers need to consider the fact that everyone has a right of practicing his or her religious activities as long as it does not interfere with the freedom of others. Denoting that the presence of the Buddha statues did not interfere with the right of anyone and instead it was only a reminder of the ancient religious beliefs. Additionally, those who have played the noble part in preserving the historical heritage should be commemorated through prizes to signify their iconic roles, that way it will influence others to follow their footsteps. Decisively, religion or faith-based groups need to respect the religion of other people and embrace the preservation of the ancient religious practices so that the future generation could at least understand where the practice of worshiping hailed.
The ancient artwork can be protected in the global scale by mobilizing people of different religious sect on the importance of having the old history of religion with us today, how significant it will be for the future generations, and make them comprehend the economic value (employment and economic growth) that it can be reaped from having the artworks. The protection can also be taken to the learning institutions where lessons to appreciate and preserve the artworks needs to be introduced so that they can educate others in their homes. Furthermore, people need to understand that there is a difference between worshiping artwork themselves not the same as worshiping what they represent. First, worshiping the artwork themselves means that you appreciate what you see from the artwork, in regards to the model, shape, and color, as well as the history that it characterizes it and the people it represents. While on the other hand, worshiping art on what they represent mean that you have confined all your faith to the artwork and you will not have any religious beliefs in anything else while worshiping the art.
Conclusion
In the video, I was saddened with how people are brainwashed with their religious beliefs to the extent of directing their wrath towards what has been preserved for several decades and worth billions of dollars. People need to respect the cultural heritage and preserve them, and in that case, I propose that decisive measures need to be enacted to ensure that ancient arts are protected. There should be strict international regulation directed against those who will be found culpable of destroying the historical artifacts and status. The government needs to collaborate with UNESCO and show commitment towards conserving the ancient artworks, and necessary finances need to be invested in the project.
