As defined in the article water equity occurs when all communities share in the social, environmental, and economic benefits of water systems. Water equity focuses on putting capital to ensure that the communities involved have access to sanitation and clean safe water. The article focuses on how the examined ideas have led to a dominant focus on domestic water and how water affects poverty and livelihoods. The primary objective of the paper is to focus on domestic water use which at times becomes a challenge to differentiate from either agricultural or industrial water usage. It widens an understanding of perceiving domestic water as drinking water. The article considers the influence of equity on domestic water and whether equity improves the accessibility of the water sources to the community and the households. The paper, therefore, discusses water equity from numerous fronts. The objective of water equity is to allow communities and households to share the benefits of the water systems. I agree with the authors because equity will improve water source access to the members of the community. If the equity of water is improved, it will mean that the communities will have better access to water sources. The idea of water equity has enabled communities to gain access to clean drinking water. In the context, the authors have shown how equity increases the chances of clean drinking water access.

Sen, in his proposal, uses capabilities and freedom approach to suggest other ways in which water equity can be thought. In his approach, he argues that the goal of social change and water equity is to give room for people to pursue their likes. The approach of freedom and capability is important in understanding equity in water access and use because water has many uses. Sen's approach focuses on social responsibilities which allow human to grow and flourish.

He argues that humans should be given the freedom to water equity without limiting it to domestic drinking water. In the argument, he says that freedom acts as both means and end and illustrates the concept of freedom as enabling social change. Sen believes that freedom influences water access at different levels, whether it is political, economic, social, protective security, or transparency guarantee.

Sen also proposes the idea of equity as access to a range of freedom and capabilities. Starting a business such as preparing coffee qualifies as water use, but the business is not a type of domestic water use. Sen's theory allows water users to use it for a variety of purposes without limitations. Sen's theory provides water users with the chance to grow socially and justifies the used water by claiming that water use is equal regardless of the use.

Conclusion

Water equity has allowed for easy access to drinking water; this is one of the widely used measures. According to this indicator, water equity has improved access to drinking water. Rural and urban residents are easily getting clean water for drinking purposes; water sources have been localized to ensure communities get water regardless of the race. I agree that the goal of increasing the population of people with access to clean and safe water was met through water equity. The paper elucidated in different arguments of the author, particularly those related to water equity.
