I remember, when I was young, I had ambitions of becoming a soldier to protect our country, but this did not come true as things changed on the way. However, I still have envied the job because of the sense of patriotism that I have in me. My main aim in this speech is to help you understand some of the essential roles that the military is playing to ensure that the citizens are safe.

One of the most critical roles that are played by our military is ensuring that there is continued stability in the economy. This implies that the ability of the country to operate generally in terms of people conducting their daily activities and business should not be taken for granted. The United States is enjoying the privilege of having a strong military and, thus, tends to focus on building on its economy. The military can handle any threats of war that might occur when conflict arises between countries (DeGrasse, 2016). Besides, the United States has been able to pass through the various negotiations between countries because of its military. In essence, countries that pose threats reconsider their decisions to go into war with the U.S. since they understand the capability of the unit. Also, the military is equipped with weapons that are usually used against the enemy during the periods of war. Today, the country is still enjoying the peace that is expected to last for decades without any war periods arising. I will urge the state to focus on ways that can be implemented to improve the military. This will entail the provision of high-end training skills and the purchase of good weapons. This will create an advantage in terms of its military skills and capacity to participate in war (DeGrasse, 2016). Now you understand that the economy is not only stabilized by setting up more companies and increasing production. The absence of the military in an economy can lead to a collapse of the state in terms of performance. For example, there are a number of peace treaties that the United States has been able to sign with other countries like South Korea because of the presence of the military. This implies that the military is relevant, and its absence indicates that the country can be attacked easily.

Also, many of you understand that the world exists, with some countries being the superpowers. This implies that such states are best in terms of economy and have the best militaries as well. Therefore, the extent at which the U.S. has been able to parade its good military has attracted many countries that want to be allies. Today, we have the G7, which comprises countries with good economies and military. This offers an advantage over other developing nations because the U.S. has been enjoying a firm economy because of the continuous businesses that the country has been receiving because of its military (DeGrasse, 2016). Besides, it is essential to talk about the role of the U.S. military in other countries around the world. For example, the U.S. has sent its troops in Somalia, a country that has experienced war for decades. This is because the country is interested in peace all over the world. Without such intervention on countries that are facing war, there is a likelihood that it will spread to other parts of the world; hence there rates of conflict is likely to increase. An excellent example to explain this is that the U.S. has to negotiate for peace to ensure that there is safe air travel across all countries.

Finally, human rights and democracy are other essential issues that the military protects. Human rights are well enshrined in the constitutions, and the law requires that they are not undermined. However, around the world, there have been numerous cases of human rights violations that have only been helped through the intervention of the military (Trenin, 2016). Several countries in Africa where the current wars have caused deaths have received help from military groups that are mandated by the United Nations that champions the rights of the people. Also, during the periods of elections, the military has the mandate to ensure that there is a free and fair election. However, there are a number of negative things that have been associated with bad use of the military in some countries. For example, the military has been used in undemocratic states during the periods of election and post-election violence. This action has been considered to be against human rights and has been condemned as well. Today, the United States enjoys humanitarian relief that comes from the military. Besides, the levels of diplomacy have been increasing as the military unit continues to solidify.

To sum up my speech, I would like to thank the military and the government for the protection that they are offering to the citizens. Peace and prosperity of the economy have been in abundance since the end of war across nations. My dream is to see America become one of the countries with the best military and weapons that will help restore peace, even in nations that are experiencing instabilities. The main aim is to see the world maintain peace despite the high development of militaries. Each country needs to protect its boundaries and should not be in the frontline of initiating war.
