The rise in technology has come along with a lot of impacts to the current world. The advancement in technology has made it easier to carry out various activities because of its various features. One such feature that has made technology to be more reliable is the ability to develop systems. Various methods have to be used to develop these systems effectively (Lin, Yu, Shen & Miao, 2014). Agile Development Method is one of the approaches that has been used to develop systems (Venable, PriesHeje & Bunker, 2011). The agile development methodology focuses on the continuous iteration of development as well as testing throughout the process of software development (Lucassen, Dalpiaz & van der Werf, 2016). However, in the agile development methodology, the developers have to rely on the user stories to develop software functionality.
One of the information systems that I am interested in is the school management system. In this scenario, various user stories can be used (Abrahamsson, Fronza & Moser, 2011). Some of the user stories that may be used in the development of the system are as follows:
- Students can register for their units online.
- Students can check their tuition balance through the online platform.
- Students can check their results through a standard web browser.
- Instructors can send their students' assignments.
- Students can print out their transcripts.
- Professors can input the results of the students.
- Important term dates can be communicated.
- Students can book for accommodation within the school.
- Students can submit their assignments online.
- Students can obtain their class schedules online.
Looking at the above peer stories, it clear because they have explains some of the activities that the school system is expected to perform (Moreno & Yague, 2012). Therefore, when the system developers embark on a journey to develop the school system, they should make sure that all these functionalities are included.
