A restaurant is a place where perishable foods are made for immediate sale. It involves production activity and service provision activity. The success of a restaurant depends on the proper and skilled coordination between the production and service delivery levels (Whyte, 302). Whyte later states that the customer relationship is the core thing in a restaurant. The customer flow determines the busy schedules where the waitress refers to it as peak time. The link triggers the production and the movement of food from the kitchen to the eating area (Whyte, 305). With an increase in the number of restaurants, there is an increase in the use of the internet by the restaurant management team.

The internet has rapidly grown since the early days in 1996 when the telecommunications statute was adopted. The internet has been an anchor in various activities including political activities and labor activities. With the increased number of smartphones worldwide, the internet is accessible to all people form both men and women to both young and old. The internet has brought about networking sites such as Facebook, emails, Instagram and many other social platforms. On the other hand, the internet brings about profit generation by making money online on various platforms like YouTube (Sperber, 69). Through the internet, there has been the introduction of applications (apps) that are commonly used on mobile phones.

The introduction of apps has made life easier for most managers as they can easily communicate and keep records of their customers (Lee, 3). Wang, Liao and Yang research state that mobile apps connect the users to internet services (Wang et al., 12). The mobile apps are found in smartphones, tablets, and iPods and can be accessed through applications distribution sites like apple app store in iPhone and google play for android phones. It states that there is an app for users for everything they want. Today, apps are being used for transactions; for learning purposes, for communication, they act as information tools, and they are also used for entertainment (Lee, 3). The introduction of apps has created more and new opportunities for market chances. Therefore, it has led to the extensive recognition of apps in the whole world (Wang et al., 12).

The restaurant management team is doing a lot to adapt to the use of apps in their day to day activities. The use of apps has been adopted by restaurants where they have implemented loyalty programs to monitor their clients (Sperber, 71). Nchor Robert wrote research on "technology frames and sense-making of mobile restaurant apps," where he explained the two categories of apps used by the restaurant management team. The major groups are the rating apps, for example, yelp and the marketing apps (Nchor, 3-4). This section will describe how the restaurant management team uses various apps to improve the flow of the restaurant.

One of the categories of apps used by the restaurant management team is the rating apps that provide a summary review of the services offered by specific restaurants. One of the universal used rating app in restaurants is the Yelp app. The app helps to outlines the assessments of restaurant services and rates every activity provided in the restaurant (Sperber, 69). Sperber explains that the reviews presented by the customers on the different performance of employees helps the restaurant manager in terminating employees who are said to be of negative influence to the industry. Whereby, ratings in the Yelp app provide both positive and negative reviews on the services offered (Sperber, 69). If the service provided was negative, it leads to the firing of the employees. It shows that the app acts as a rectifying platform hence improving the services provided by the restaurant. It also leads to an increase in the number of customers flow. Therefore, Yelp helps the restaurant managers to monitor their staff performance.

In another case, the rating app provides ratings on the recipes that help the restaurant management team improve on the recipes provided (Sperber, 71). The English dictionary explains a restaurant as an eating place or an eating firm, and therefore, recipes are core as they attract the customers to receive the various foods. In another way, it is used as a measure of food quality.

Choo, Jamil, Aryty, and Daud point out that electronic word of mouth is used as a marketing tool for the restaurant management team. They explain the electronic word of mouth as the process of reviewing the services experienced in a particular place through the internet. In other words, it involves rating and reviewing (Choo et al., 40). As previously stated, the Yelp app helps include the provision of reviews and ratings. It may be either negative or positive (Sperber, 73). Through the positive reviews, customers tend to know more about the restaurant and hence marketing the restaurant, and inturn, this leads to an increase in the number of customer flow.

The second category of restaurant apps, according to Robert, is the marketing apps (Nchor, 4). The apps are used by the restaurant management to increase productivity by gaining a competitive advantage. As a result, they learn the flow in the restaurant. One of the ways in which the restaurant management is using this app is through the ordering process. Especially in fast-food restaurants, customers do not need to get to the restaurant to access food, but the food can access then to their place (Lee et al., 2). A good example is the multinational restaurant KFC which has a high number of customer flow worldwide. Lee concludes by suggesting that food restaurants should develop the ordering app.

Lastly, the hotel management team uses apps to provide information to customers. The information in the apps include the location of the restaurant, the type of food prepared in the restaurant, the opening time and closing time (Bertan &Bayram,71). The restaurant management team uses the apps to keep records of customers. For example, a case where the customer orders something and the restaurant management team calls him or her by name and knows his/her records. This scenario increases the customer relationship and leads to the invitation of more customers.

In conclusion, the internet has become everyone's day to day activities. Most of the colleges have also adopted the internet changes. Other than the colleges, every organization is seeking, and others have invested in the online platforms which involve the internet. On the other hand, restaurants have adapted the use of the internet by having restaurants websites and apps. It is through these platforms that the consumer can locate the restaurants and gain more information on what it provides. Also, the restaurant management team has used apps to improve the services offered by their staff. Also, the restaurant management team provides food delivery at the customers' preferred destination. KFC is an excellent example of a restaurant that has adapted the ordering system; currently it is a multinational restaurant with high flows. Lastly, every restaurant manager should seek to adopt apps in his or her company as it is of significant gain.
