Introduction
As a scholarly practitioner in the Family Life Education, I am committed to self-directedness, self-discipline, and lifelong learning to increase my knowledge capacity on family life issues such as domestic violence and its effects on the children and families. These will, therefore, enable me to solve most of the varied problems concerning family affairs, including domestic violence and its effects on the children and the family members at large. The many reported cases of child abuse as a result of domestic violence put most children in danger of their general well-being signals for an alarm. Consequently, active measures and policies have or should be put in place by organizations related to family affairs in conjunction with the other stakeholders to curb this violence and protect our children. Family Life Education Organization is there to address and curb some of the impacts related to the cases below.
According to Osofsky (2018), several children exposed to domestic violence in their homes are also victims of physical abuse. The source clearly explains that these children witness abusive behaviors at home or themselves are the victims of the violence being experienced. Therefore, they are at severe risk of long haul physical and psychological health problems. Additionally, these children who witness viciousness between guardians may likewise be at more danger of being savage in their predestined relationships due to the inheritance of their parent(s)’ violence (Osofsky, J., 2018). On the off chance that you are a parent who is encountering abuse, then protecting your child from the violence cases will not be that easy (Osofsky, J., 2018).
According to Øverlien (2019) on European research on children, adolescents, and domestic violence: impact, interventions, and innovations, countless children and adolescents that have experienced domestic violence in their homes are affected psychologically thus their future has been impacted by low self-esteem, depression, rude or criminal behaviors, fear of getting into relations or starting their families, violence in their families, etc. The research has been intervened to tackle the above problems (Øverlien et al., 2019).
Ragavan (2018) explains in detail that the South Asian cultural values have mostly influenced the impact of domestic violence exposure on South Asian children in the United States. These children are said to be affected in their future relationships as they adopt their culture, which is associated with violence of the male dominating over their women, which in many cases, result in violence.
Findings
Cultural values do impact the research on family issues such as domestic violence since the interests of these cultures have to be considered otherwise truthful information will not be obtained from the affected families (Ragavan et al., 2018).
Information management and information technology have played a significant role in promoting and undermining Family Life delivery systems. For instance, improved communication as a result of information technology between Family life education organizations and the affected families has increased the solving of family issues such as domestic violence (Ragavan et al., 2018). Affected children can report easily to these organizations. On the other end, information technology communication channels such as social media have promoted violence in families due to trust issues due to either or both of the close interactions with the outside population that sometimes results in relationships. Information management and technology have offered means of families, including children reporting the violence cases, and facilitated the tracking of the locations of violence in families (Osofsky, J., 2018).
Proposals
Budgeting for the grant writing and fundraising should be based on the research reports on the domestic violence issues affecting the children in the various families as according to a non-profit or governmental Family Life Education Organization. The vital financial proposals from these organization(s) should, therefore, be considered.
Public awareness campaigns should be conducted worldwide to educate the people on the effects of domestic violence on children in families and the measures that family heads can take to curb this violence (Øverlien et al., 2019). For instance, domestic violence as a result of cultural violence should be addressed in a 3-D perspective without ‘hurting’ those that are much into these cultures. In other words, we should still show respect for our multicultural world (Øverlien et al., 2019).
Both professional and volunteer staff members in a Family Life Education organization should be highly motivated and given the independence to handle cases resulting from families such as domestic violence. Coaching them and offering the members an ear to their grievances concerning issues such as domestic violence will correct and therefore improve the organization’s strategies. In general, democratic, Strategic, coach-style, transformational, and Laissez-Faire leadership styles best suit the management of these staff members. Bureaucratic and aristocratic styles should be put into moderation.
Conclusion
Domestic violence influences children's development negatively, and their future lives are also severely affected (Ragavan et al., 2018). It is, therefore, prudent to curb this violence through all the necessary means possible as a significant step in protecting children from the rampant effects associated with the violence (Øverlien et al., 2019. Family life education should be fully supported by all the family issues stakeholders in the bid to promote the peaceful coexistence of families and avoid the adverse effects associated with unstable families.
