Paul Camenisch’s principle reiterates the importance of business taking part in the betterment of humans, and a company evaluation should be in line with those principles.
The principle of Paul Camenisch that outlines the importance of a product to human flourishing is well seated with a bicycle (Wueste, 2016). A bike is a symbol of human will, and it helps people in a variety of ways, such as exercising. A bicycle uses no fuel; it uses human strength, and any distance travelled is dependent on the will to continue cycling. The bike is economically efficient because it does not necessarily require a mechanic trip to maintenance, as it is easy to fix. Bicycle riders have smashed world records using bicycles while making their body fit because peddling helps burn fats in the body. There are many bicycles and gymnastics replicas that help people lose fat and ensure healthy living, reducing lifestyle diseases such as obesity.
Paul Camenisch argues on the functions of a business that is to provide sustenance and enhance human life (68). As known, a cigarette does not contain any nourishment to human beings, and Camenisch says it is like businesses are being allowed to profit from immorality. Smoking cigarettes is detrimental to an individual's health by causing various diseases, including cancer. It reduces the productivity and lifespan of an individual because when diagnosed with lung cancer, a patient never has a lot of time to live. In its intended ways, the product is still harmful to a consumer, but it is purchased worldwide (Stout, 2016). The continuous use, as seen, erodes the human power of productivity and limits exercising of that power as a result of the sicknesses associated with the product. Ongoing use can undermine that power through addiction and, thus, uncapped spending on the product.
John Waide defines associative advertising as an essential non-market good association with some market products. That product cannot possibly satisfy the desire of the non-market good (Waide, 2019). The advertised product only provides a temporary or partial fulfillment of their passion. His criticism of the advertising method is its corruption of the advertiser and the consumer making them worse humans. High resolution is a non-market product associated with Apple computers because for an individual to be able to view it, they must have proper eyesight. Therefore, in essence, a consumer should be buying the product based on what it can do.
Sandel's argument on the corruption of monetizing certain non-market social goods is that everyone cannot afford to buy such products (Sandel, 2017). People's purchasing capabilities depend on what they earn daily and monetizing non-social goods. It includes the right to migrate to the United States for $500,000 upon the creation of jobs in an area with high unemployment rates. Citizenship in a nation or region can only be useful if there is good infrastructure. The economy of that country is doing well, and generally, the cost of living is down. A privately contracted firm for military contracts usually does so for money, and they come from different parts of the world (Brandeis, 2018) They have no regard, nor do they know the sentimental value of some places or infrastructure because they are not attached to them through history. Destruction of infrastructure by contracted forces can be massive due to disregard for certain things with an end goal of fulfilling what their employer requires. However, national armed forces have a regard for their country, and some places hold sentimental value and, as such, preserved during warring.
Gooperster’s point on violent video games is that creators of those games should consider in the least the effects of the games on a particular group of people who purchase the games (Goodpaster, 2017). The violent games erode morality because they encourage criminality in that players are rewarded points the higher the extreme activities they do in the game. It may help players to enact the events in real life concerning the rewards they get in the games. Taking a more comprehensive approach can reduce the physiological effects of the games on individuals not mature enough to make a moral stand. It can also involve limiting access to video games by putting a limitation on age limit purchase or resolve by parents to monitor what their children consume.
