Discussion of a Concert Attendance and Critique of The Dinner Party by Neil Simons

I am going to discuss live performance I have personally attended. The live performance venue was Riverside community players' theaters ("Riverside Community Players," 2018). Ron Milts managed stage and live performance. Ron has experience in the field of entertainment and has worked as a director since 2002. The live performance I attended is called The Dinner Party by Neil Simons. Neil is a known writer who has been unlucky in his marriage life and has undergone five divorces. The main theme of the play was the reconciliation of five broken relationships. The author tries to bring them together, and create an environment that is going to strengthen the relationships.

The setting of the dinner was French characterized by the French accent. The context of the Dinner is something I am not familiar with as I am used to American. This is one of the movie set that does not make sense. Neil choice of a foreign locale does not make sense. Unless French is more experienced in divorce than American, I do not understand the reason for choosing a different region. The use of a different dinner set up does not make sense. There is nothing special that, or it brings into the play. Maybe the reason Simon picked such locality was to give characters the freedom of speech and behave in the stage in style never accepted in America. He should have chosen an American locale which would have made it easier for me to understand since I have some background knowledge. Also, it would have made it easier for the crew and the cast to plan the stage effectively. It is one of the things that seem to make sense. The background has nothing interesting to attract the attention of the audience.

The director (Ron Milts) and his crew completed an incredible activity organizing the performers and on-screen characters. Everything that was occurring was anything but awkward to see. The main thing about the phase in these kinds of plays that cannot have revisions is the seating. However, you do not get the opportunity to see the show from one of the players. When they are interfacing, you may see one of the performing artist's facial appearances, however then the other may have their back turned towards you. There was the utilization of the whole stage, and I got the opportunity to see all the activity ("What are the types of theatre stages and auditoria?" 2018). The set-up of the stage was perfect to accommodate all the plays. All characters appeared in the play just like how Simon described. The performing artists' positions were proper to the passionate existence of the scene, particularly amid all parts of the supper. Everybody was in great situating. There was never a point in time where I could not perceive what was happening (Simon, 2010).

Conclusion

I enjoyed the live performance and given a chance again I will attend. The performance was incredible. I feel that the every one of the on-screen characters and off-screen characters completed an unusual activity in all parts of the execution, and if I were to rate the play; I would give it eight out of ten. The play taught me a lot of things about marriage and divorce. The author has undergone numerous, and that is the main reason he is trying to bring the couples together. The play is comic and in the same time educational to all the couples. I would recommend everyone to watch The Dinner Party.
