Daydreams are defined as "a series of pleasant thoughts that distract from the present". Daydreams are not something that a schoolgirl with a doe-eyed look would indulge in during a boring French lesson. However, opinions differ. Ian McEwan, a critically acclaimed author, said that "the cost of being oblivious to daydreaming was always the moment of return. The realignment with past events and what now seemed worse." He believes that daydreaming can be depressing and will only make a person's view of life less satisfying. It is futile to spend time imagining alternative lives that will never come true. It makes me wonder if these daydreams led to his writing of books such as'sweet tooth' or 'atonement'. Is there a fine line between daydreaming, and simply thinking about possibilities? Myself, a keen daydreamer myself, often I just lay on my back and drift into my own dreamworld. Although I can't imagine a specific event or situation, I wander between scattered thoughts looking for the perfect solution. This perfect possibility fills me up with an unconscious serenity, and takes me out of my reality to show me another scenario.

When I draw the perfect possibility out of my head, like taking a smudge from my cheek, I make sure to carefully examine it so that I don't miss any of the imagined thought. My daydreams range from very bizarre and outrageous events to very mundane thoughts that I create in my imagination. My future is often what I daydream about. This image takes over my mind and I am unable to stop thinking about the steps that would be required to make it come true. It is very enjoyable to watch movies that show projections of characters daydreaming. These daydreams often vividly portray what the character would like to do at that moment. It is not something that is acceptable in society. An employee might make fun of their boss, or a mother in law imagines her daughter-in laws being shoved into a cake. These funny daydreams offer a fun outlet. When I watch these movies, I wish my daydreams were as vivid. I rarely get a clear picture, but I do get quick flashes of images. My daydreams don't flow as fluidly as my sleep dreams. They are more choppy and choppy than my nighttime dreams. It is often a mystery to me if fluidity and dream flow changes between daydreams and night dreams.

According to psychiatrists, the ability to imagine one's thoughts is linked with mental stability and mental health. So my question is: If people's mental health is different, does that affect their dreaming?

She once stated that she wanted to talk about an activity that was not tolerated as a teenager, and which was never encouraged at school. However, without it, there would be no bridges to soar or light bulbs to burn. Daydreaming is a creative outlet that allows one to discover beauty without paying attention. Mozart believed daydreaming was a way to achieve greatness. "All this inventing and producing takes place in a vibrant dream." It is amazing how one daydream can have a ripple effect on the world. Even a small thought, even if it seems insignificant at first, can lead to a significant action in the long-term.

Daydreaming has many benefits, but it also has its downsides. Daydreaming can be productive and useful at times, but it can also cause you to lose your focus and make you miss out on important things. There's a time and place for fantasy, but there's also a time and place for reality. My opinion is that daydreaming can be a positive thing if one doesn't daydream about negative things or daydreaming all the time. This could lead to depression. Daydreams can have a profound impact on one's mental health. Negative possibilities can make a person's outlook cloudy and unfulfilling. One of my favorite quotes was "How many of our dreams would turn into nightmares if they came true?" It doesn't mean that one wants it to happen. Daydreams can be enjoyed by anyone who has an imagination. Daydreaming can be enjoyed by all ages.

Daydreaming does not require you to be of a certain age. Daydreaming is free from worry and judgment. While some say that one man's daydream may be another man's, neither man will ever know. I believe it is because our daydreams are our private, unwritten journal of hope. As with a diary, daydreams can change and our handwriting gets better. Our thoughts also become more grounded. Our daydreams as children include imaginary friends from faraway places, tea parties on moon with Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny. The daydreamer may not recognize daydreams that he or she has as a child. Children often mistake their fantasies for reality, and believe that their daydreams are real. It is possible to freely share our daydreams with others. This acceptance is not a rejection of the children's sweet imaginations. As we get older, our daydreams become more realistic and closer to becoming reality.

A mature daydreamer envisions how their life would look if they chose a different path. Some also imagine the situations they find themselves in now and what they might do to change it. Every now and again, our inner child takes over and we give in to our childlike fantasies. These fantasies are rarely shared with others. It is impossible to stop dreaming, but it is hard to know when one stops dreaming.
