Hybridity is defined as a combination of two elements that are not closely related so as to bring about a symbiotic relationship between these two elements. Media on the other hand means, it is a form of mass communication that involves broadcasting, publishing of information through avenues such as the internet, television, and radio. Popular culture (pop culture) simply refers to the set of beliefs and practices dominating a societal background that is mainly composed of youth and is transmitted through forms of media aforementioned.
Hybridity in media and pop culture involves the integration of old forms of communication with new forms of communication with the aim of creating a strategic plan that will save time and resources without compromising the target population needs. For example, use of call to action these days as a form of advertisement is proving to be yielding low results and is not very appealing to this era. To counter that, strategic plans such as the creation of websites attract a lot of traffic to customers of really want to get to more about the product that you are marketing. If you look at it, a website serves a lot of people at the same time as compared to the call to action strategy where one person is served at ago. In the world of fashion, a website is undeniably important because it not only provides traffic but it also enables transactions to be done online and hence very efficient. (Ramalho) In the world of art, hybridity brings into focus the contemporary association between technology and science, popular culture, and literature. Traditional art was limited in terms of material that was used to bring out the artistic message born by the artist, the technique and more the tools. This concept of hybridity has now combined the use of science and technology which has broken the ancient rules and boundaries in creating artwork in this modern day. This has led to the surge in innovation and experimentation of the crossbreeds in art making and has for sure created opportunities to create ideas and concepts. Artists from different countries have unique signature ways of music. They come together in collaboration to combine different sounds and techniques from their countries. This idea of culture mixing brings out uniquely featured music that can be related to the audience from the countries and indeed it is very symbolic. Apart from that, it creates that close interactions between people from different countries hence providing close relations that promote tourism and peaceful associations.
