Introduction
Conflicts are defined as what arises in situations where two or more people socializing in the same case view their states in different ways due to backgrounds that are not similar, character, reason, or even attitude. Conflicts go beyond the point of disagreeing; in the state of conflict, individuals tend to find the triggering issues as threats to certain aspects in their lives, such as wellbeing, psychological status, or even ability. The complaint, on the other hand, is the expression of dissatisfaction, sorrow, regret, and resentment (McCarthy, 2016). Charges may be sent or expressed in writing or in verbally mostly via the phone or even on one-on-one levels. Mistakes are the errors resulting from poor or wrong judgment, inadequate knowledge which may be from insufficient training, or even lack of carefulness. In this paper, I will give my personal experiences with conflict, mistakes, and complaints explaining the procedures I followed in comparison to the right methods for these problems.
Conflict
An incident of disagreement I have had in the past was as a result of feeling looked down upon by my colleagues in the class by that time. We had been grouped randomly for class discussions and projects. My group consisted of four other people and then me. The professor had given us two classwork discussions to tackle and present in PowerPoint form for the whole class before my experience of conflict. I had been feeling as if I was doing everything for my group, such as having to present the bigger and more complex sections to typing out the whole presentation. When the professor assigned my group the third assignment, I had already calculated my moves. I concluded that I would not take part in any of the discussions but rather sit back and watch everything fall apart. Other group members realized my resilience and came down hard on me. Everyone was shouting at the same time, which attracted the attention of school officials.
The head of the discipline took over our case serving as the mediator. He practiced active listening and conducted his investigation. He, however, did not give any excuses. He then gave us his findings, which stated each and everyone's mistakes as he had learned. The head of the discipline then told us to brainstorm on possible solutions to our issue and, at the same time, made us pick an answer. These are the right procedures he used to solve our issue. The conflict could have been prevented if I had defined the problems, come up with a list of solutions, and pick one among them to go through the issue.
Complaint
I have had an experience of charge in the past, whereby I felt that the services provided to me were not good enough and, therefore, not worth my money. I had purchased some food, but after taking a few bites, I realized that some parts were not properly cooked or, instead, the type of resources they used was of poor quality. I called in for the hotel manager to file my complaint as I needed a refund or a different kind of food in exchange.
The manager did not ask me what could be done to resolve the problem, which is a significant step in solving complaints. He instead told me to hold on as I would get another plate of the same food I had been taking earlier but properly made this time. The manager should not have told me either on what to expect as, during complaint solving, it is not advisable to make promises or the impression that action will be taken. However, the manager still got some of the steps right as he kept me informed on the proceedings and also followed up concerning the issue
I had raised.
Mistakes
I have experienced mistakes in the past as a result of both inadequate knowledge and carelessness. I had acquired a holiday job in a particular hotel around my place. My overall responsibilities included assisting the chef in the kitchen and clearing tables. In my early days of work, I was left in charge of the whole kitchen as the chef had some errands to run. I had included in the curriculum vitae that I could make proper meals hence the trust by management, which had been an act of carelessness as I had no adequate cooking skills. I made reduced quality meals that entire day as a result of a lack of knowledge. The consequences to my mistake were getting fired without that day's pay, as I had caused the hotel to undergo losses. I could have, however, avoided this mistake if I was more conscious while writing my curriculum vitae so as not to include incorrect details.
Conclusion
Conclusively, for one to solve a problem in the fire department, one has to understand the problem. Alternative solutions should then be generated, followed by the picking of the most effective solution (Bennett, 2017). The results should then go through evaluation after the implementation of the chosen solution.
