The image and representation of women have transformed greatly from very few women in the mainstream media to the new scenario of almost equal numbers of both men and women in the media. Throughout the history of the world women have been typically viewed as the weaker gender, therefore, they did not receive appropriate and equal opportunities in participating in employment, voting, and also physical sports.

The old notion has dramatically changed, thanks to the struggle of some strong women such as Eva Marian Hubback, an English feminist and early advocate of birth control and eugenics. She was one of the women involved in Women's suffrage movement and fought for equal citizenship. The struggles have proved beneficial and in the current society, several examples are evident of women representation in lucrative positions.

Starting with the media, there are several sectors where women are represented. In modeling where we can mention the likes of Emily Wong, a Chinese-American model. She turned into actress and was even able to achieve awards as the second runners-up in the 2017 Miss Hong Kong pageant. The second sector is music, where one can easily pick 2011 Soul Train Music Awards. The ceremony paid special tributes to both Earth Wind & Fire and Gladys Knight, both heroines received the Soul Train Legend Award. Moving on to media presenters one can mention Perry Como. She hosted the Chesterfield supper club, a radio program, for five nights a week. Finally, women also held managerial positions such as Emily dean, social media manager of the rAVe Publications.

Another sector is sports where women are equally well represented. In almost all the popular games in the world, there is a place for women. Both the athletics competitions in the Olympics and in the football leagues in almost every county women are incorporated. Even in indoor games such as volleyball where we find Charlene Tagaloa, a former volleyball player.

Despite the continued representation of women in the modern society, the men are also still well represented. Meaning the scenario is not overturned but it is just a drive towards equity. Men are still performing well in studies and well featured in games and even the music. Some few examples include Magnus Nordborg, a biologist specialist in population genetics, Ruslan Bakytzhanovich, doctor of economic sciences. In music, there is the Tides, an Indie rock band, while in spots we have Jo Cummings, an English professional footballer.

Reflection

The topics selected are much unrelated and therefore it was very difficult to construct an essay to incorporate all the topics. Arranging the topic also proved difficult but with the help of transitions, I was able to connect all the paragraphs even though the topics are not related. Transition also assisted in finding the flow of the essay and preventing the tendency of jumping from one idea to the other.
