California is a country located in the Western part of America, forming the United States Western Estate (Heinrichs & Kania, 2006). It borders the Pacific Ocean. Its largest city is Los Angeles. Over the years, California has had the transformation of the Agricultural sector, and currently, it is home to significant advancement in Agriculture (Editor, 2012). The advancement in agriculture was initiated a long time ago. The factors that have led to the improvement in agriculture in California included things like industrialization, government support in agriculture, and the availability of necessary resources to bring forth the realization of improvement in agriculture. The industrialization has led to the development of factories that utilize agricultural produces (Klonsky, 2012). The establishment of factories makes the produces that the farmers harvest not to go to waste, but instead, they are converted in a form to be utilized later when the need arises. The industrialization as well has led to up-rise of the industries targeting to supply the raw material for the farmers (Martin, 2013). The raw materials include the fertilizers as well as the seed primordium for plantation. Industrialization comes along with the better infrastructure that supports the agricultural activity in the state.

The introduction of chemical fertilization has brought forth the improvement of the agricultural yield in California. Similarly, this is contributed significantly by mechanized farm machinery, treatment of the soil, application, and use of pesticides and adequate water supply. Treatment of the soil makes the soil fit and active for agricultural production, causing the high yield to the farmer (Klonsky, 2012). The use of irrigation as a water supply in California has promoted high yields among the farmers. The same applies to the use of pesticides and insecticides. The mechanized farm machinery, on the other hand, has lessened the labor required during farming, thus improving agriculture as well. The farm machinery in California is used in the whole world to promote farming (Davies, 1950). The use of farm machinery has as well led to the realization of large scale farming since it proves more effective and cost sparing with a large scale than a small scale (Meadows, 2002). It has as well led to a considerable decline in the small scale farming (Editor, 2012). The acceptability of mechanized agriculture since 1950 and advancement in mechanized agriculture has empowered agricultural empowerment (Martin, 2013). Mechanization has led to the realization of diesel engine powered tractors and other types of machinery for seed processing, planting, and harvesting (Davies, 1950). For example, airplane use to seed has increased the effectiveness in large scale farming. The use of a machine to harvest tomatoes has caused reduced labor and increased the efficiency in large scale farming (Ayob bin Sukra., Ooi & Ailin Ton., 1993).

The advancement in technology cannot be forgotten when it comes to improvement in agriculture in California. The country has invested a lot in advancement in technology that has led to the realization of agriculture in areas deemed not appropriate. Advancement in technology has led to the introduction of irrigation, initiation of the spraying fertilizers, and many others (Martin, 2013). Irrigation alone has been a point that has transformed California's agricultural sectors. With irrigation, the water can be controlled thus making it possible to plant whichever product considered necessary (Meadows, 2002). When it comes to the modification of fertilizer, it is evident that there in California, the fertilizer can as be sprayed to the crops, thus improving their uptake and at the same time, reducing on the wastage or rather increasing on the effectiveness of the fertilizer (Editor, 2012).

Biotechnology has been the backbone of agricultural advancement in California. The rise and embracing of Biotechnology have been a mastermind that has even made agriculture in California improve in a great deal. Biotechnology in agriculture entails research targeting to come up with superior crops for use (Meadows, 2002). The agriculture is being remodeled such that it can be able to withstand the climatic condition of the area.

Biotechnology has led to the rise of new forms of crops to be planted, most of which are better tolerated within the climatic condition, thus making them strive less in growth as compared to other crops (Meadows, 2002). Similarly, biotechnology has led to the invention of the plants that are resistant to the local common crop infections, thus making them less affected by the crop diseases and even the pests (Klonsky, 2012). The research that takes place in Biotechnology has led to the realization of effective methods of pest control that least affect the crops as well (Bhowmik, Basu & Goyal, 2009). Such interventions by biotechnology serve to promote better agricultural practices.

It goes beyond saying that this improvement realized over the years in Agriculture has served better to improve the agricultural practice in California. Following this, therefore, California is currently known to be the center of biotechnological advancement in agriculture (Klonsky, 2012). The practice of agriculture has been effective to a scale of the state being able to produce different kinds of agricultural products that serve many people in the United States (Editor, 2012). The biotechnology has promoted practicing large scale farming leading to high production to supply to other parts of the world (Phillips & Khachatourians, 2001).

Following the growth of agriculture, California is known to supply fruits to the whole of the United States (Editor, 2012). It is not limited to the supply of fruits alone, but another farm produces as well (Martin, 2013). Agriculture forms the largest industry in California due to the advancement that has occurred over the years (Heinrichs & Kania, 2006). It is an essential sector in the country's economy (Klonsky, 2012).

Conclusion

In conclusion, advancement in agricultural practices has far-reaching benefits in agriculture by increasing production, reducing the cost, and reducing the labor (Phillips & Khachatourians, 2001). Embracing of biotechnology in California has led to significant advancement in the agricultural practice witnessed and thus leading to a better agricultural outcome (Meadows, 2002). The government interplay is also a crucial thing in the betterment of agriculture, as witnessed in California.
