Introduction
Great Britain is the most extensive island found in the British Isles that is ordinarily stereotyped to be highly developed and a significant political entity. It consists of three countries, i.e., Wales, England, and Scotland. Just like middle East nations, Great Britain's immigration news has been in the headlines for the increasing number of immigrants who translate to challenges in education sectors due to non-uniformity in language. Koopmans and Statham (2014) mentioned that by 2028, The Great Britain population would have hit 70 million due to the doubling numbers of immigrants. Before Brexit, Alasdair (2009) ascertained that Great Britain has continuously faced the challenge of accommodating learners who do not use English as their first language while other huge numbers being children who do not know English at all and who have never been able to hear about it. Alasdair (2009) also added that by 2009, about 567,888 children between four and 11 years portrayed to be affiliated with foreign languages and English, therefore, was their second language.
Location, Geography, Industry, and Natural Resources on Immigration Law
Recently, Britain was reported to have strict migration laws as a way of regulating the number of immigrants entering the nation. Consequently, Great Britain's immigration statistics by 2017 was reported to have fallen by 106,000 asylums after the outcome of Brexit and the countries voting as EU citizens free. Great Britain's location results from the fall in the number of immigrants as an Island that is separated from European Mainland by the North Sea and the English Channel. Since it is an island that is surrounded by Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Norway, its immigration officials and the government decided to revise its connection to EU thus chose to permit Brexit. Brexit, therefore, resulted in loose contact with neighborhood nations as few businesses are carried out from neighboring countries. Additionally, it was discovered that Great Britain is highly industrialized and it had to lose nothing for initiating Brexit thus lead to grounds for minimizing asylums. Since its take on Brexit, mass cuts of destinations to Great Britain happened thus led to a loose connection of immigrants to the island. The geographical location of Great Britain and its passive relationship with EU brought about a breakthrough from the dangers of the island hitting around 70 million people by 2028 as it was projected.
According to the Sheftalovich (2017) blog, Great Britain's economy and industries highly recruited workforce from EU but after Brexit, the immigration plans of the workforce were cut short thus extending the effect to the new settlers in the nation. It was reported that even businesses and companies were forced to raise their wages to attract local workers to the nation's industries. The loose connection to the industries with EU workers led to a massive reduction of immigrants both legal and illegal asylums.
Historical and Present Occupation or Mentorship in Immigration law
The end of the relationship between Great Britain and EU countries brought about the stricter and harsh immigration policies as reported by Shetalovich (2017). The historical occupation of EU members in Britain had risen. Thus Britain decided to cut short its association with EU nations to limit the number of immigrants in the country. It was after a realization that most job opportunities had been taken away from Britain's workforce thus harsh immigration rules were to be imposed to cover up the issues affecting Great Britain. Great Britain considered Brexit and finally started imposing more stringent immigration laws because of the US and its great ally. Also, it focused on Germany as the other ally as the two nations have had around five disagreements with Germany and Turkey.
The Relationship between Great Britain and the United States
Britain's relationship with the US is a selfish relationship that seems to be blackmail set up by Teresa May in conjunction with US' president Donald Trump (Spykman, 2017). It can be seen that UK's Prime Minister, May, had planned to make the neo-Elizabethan's dream of maritime commerce to come through. There is a cohort relationship that is directed towards achieving specific selfish gains between US and Britain having found out that British Diplomats have always initiated several state visits to the US and which is said to reckon with the pragmatism of the old-fashioned statecraft a remedy to its continental association.
Great Britain's Government
Great Britain is a Monarchs system of government. It is composed of the Prime Minister who chooses all other ministers (Polak, 2018). The parliament makes laws, i.e., the MPs who are voted in by people every five years. The elected members of the parliament are the ones who impose laws. Since the elected MPs make laws, the government operates under parliamentary democracy but with the constitutional monarchy. Head of the state is Queen Elizabeth while Theresa May is the prime minister.
How is citizenship defined? How can one become a citizen?
In spite of the fact that Brexit affected immigration and operations of foreigners in Britain, the three ways of becoming a citizen in the UK are the citizen by birth, through naturalization and registration as a foreigner for studies as the current conditions after Brexit.
Naturalization as a way of becoming a Citizen of UK
Byrne (2017) mentioned that the procedures required is one to be 18 years and above and should be owning a passport. Secondly, the individual should portray a good character and should have a criminal free record (Polak, 2018). One needs to have lived in the UK for at least five years before seeking for naturalization. Since the current immigration, naturalization picked the pieces and allowed lack of security details for the people who find themselves illegally in the nation.
Advantages Given to Citizens?
Currently, UK citizens are given the priority of finding a job easily, and the nation has vowed to support its economic activities to support the economy and per capita income of the citizens (Byrne, 2017).
Working as Non-Citizens in UK
Visiting the UK, working as a permanent resident, studying, working, joining family members, investing and buying land is allowed when a person meets specific qualifications. Firstly, there are many ways to go to the UK, most of which are not easy to qualify. If a person has a lot of money, they can go to U.K as an investor. Many people go to U.K via work visa, where a person has first to find a UK company that is willing to hire, and then obtain a sponsorship certificate through the hiring company, which is then used to secure the work visa. The hiring company is the one that has to get a certificate for the employee (Travis, 2018). A person cannot go to the UK to hunt for a job. Instead, a person has to first obtain the work visa, so it is stamped at the border point of entry. When a person is applying to join a family member restriction exist depending on the country one is coming from and the relationship between the person in the UK and their citizenship status. People from non-European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA), only relatives can apply to stay in the UK such relatives include to joins the spouse, to take care of a child, to join parents or if one is a dependant. Those who are from EU/EFTA countries and are in the UK with extended Visas can apply to bring spouses, any dependants and children under 18.the family members, even those of the extended family are also allowed to use to visit on short Visas. The most common type of Visa is the Standard visitor, which enables one to visit relatives.
UK Visas allow people entry in the UK, either for a temporary stay or a permanent stay. Temporary Visas range fro Tier 1-Tier5. Tier 1 is for foreigners who are highly skilled, Tier-2 those who are skilled- mostly like a work permit, Tier 3 is also for persons who have ob offers in places with low-skills, Tier 4 is for international students, and Tier 5 is for temporary immigrants. A person can also visit on a tourist Visa, for six months at a time. However, a person cannot work during that period. A return flight plan also has to be shown during the tourist visit.
For a person to apply for a permanent residence, he or she must have lived in the UK for five years legally. A person then has to apply for an Indefinite Leave to remain. For a person to qualify for an Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), they have to be continuously present in the U.K for a particular period. Most of their time during this continuous presence, the person uses a temporary visa to be in the UK. ILR is a permanent residency status granted to a person admitted to the UK without any limits on their stay, and they can take up employment with no restrictions. When a person is not in the UK and is granted indefinite leave, it is called Indefinite Leave to Enter. Under this category, the following visas are used; UK Tier1, Tier2, Tier 5 Domestic work Visa or international agreement. One can make an application for ILR after two years if they have a spouse in the UK or a family member who is in the UK under ILR (Migration Watch, 2017).
The UK has a problem with illegal immigration, and the reports show that up to 250000 illegal immigrants enter the UK every year (McCaan, 2017). The scale of the problem is not known because the figures are embarrassing. The undocumented persons are from different countries, no particular country or place. The effect of such illegal immigration has led to a drastic increase in population and limited resources for the UK citizens.
The office of National statistics shows that out of 64 Million people living in the UK, 87.2% are White-British, and the other groups make the 6.8% population (Institute of Race Relations, Ethnicity, and Religious Statistics). The census in 2011 showed that 59.5% of the people were Christians and Muslims are the second largest with 4.8%. The rest take up other religions and no religion (Institute of Race Relations, Ethnicity, and Religious Statistics).
People are freely allowed to emigrate from the UK voluntarily, having complied with immigration laws. The borders of UK are guarded by border patrol officers and some use uns. It is estimated that $200,000 was used in purchasing Gloak pistols for the border officers between 2014-2017.
Deportation orders in the UK can be made on foreign nationals. While the order remains a foreign national will not be allowed back to the UK (Dai, McGregor, & Williams, 2015).
A person can be deported in the interest of the good of the public if a person is a spouse or partner to a person who is subject to deportation and when a person s convicted of a serious offense, and the court recommends expulsion. Once the order for eviction is made, a person may be detained without warning. Other restrictions can be imposed on a person as an alternative while they are still in the UK. A person being deported has the right to appeal against such an order. If a person breaches immigration law, they will be removed as an administrative process as opposed to deportation.
