How did a country you selected above become communist?
The People's Republic of China (PRC) communism can be traced to the Chinese to the Chinese Revolution of 1949. Mao Zedong, a Chinese communist leader, declared the creation of PRC. The creation of the PRC resulted in the culmination of an expensive full-scale armed war between the National Party and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The civil war started soon after World War II. KMT and CCP conflict were on and off between the 1920s and 1st of October, 1949. However, governmental turmoil in China can be traced to the 1911 Revolution (Office of the Historian, n.d.).
Discuss the rise of Fascism in your second selected country.
According to Shenfield (2016), Russia has fascist traditions. However, they are weaker than those of either Italy or Germany. Fascism in Russia can be traced to Konstantin Leontiev, a political philosopher of the 19th century (Shenfield, 2016). Konstantin is linked to the first pro-fascist movement which was known as Black Hundreds, whose further development was thwarted by the revolutionary upheaval of 1917. However, it is important to note that in contemporary Russian political settings, the Russian Orthodox Church (ORC) and the Communist Party of Russian Federation (CPRF) have significant fascist tendencies (Shenfield, 2016).
Describe the Cold War in your third country option.
The Cold War refers to the rivalry between the United States' and the Soviet Union and their respective allies. It was first coined by George Orwell, an English writer in an article published in 1945. The Cold War was driven through political, economic, and propaganda as opposed to the use of weapons that characterize past wars.
What role did foreign intervention play in the communist revolution which took place in a country you selected?
The Chinese Revolution has been linked to the assistance of the Russians, particularly the Bolsheviks (Pantsov, 2013). Even though it has been a subject of debate by the historians, the Bolsheviks have been reported to have had an impact on the Chinese Communist Movement in its early years. Noteworthy, the tactics employed by the CCP and that led to communism were under were provided and supervised by Russian Communists. One of the critical Russian players in the communist revolution is Stalin (Pantsov, 2013).
Explain the foreign influences which gave rise to the fascist government in a second country you selected.
The rise of fascism in Russia has not been directly linked to the foreign influence. However, it can be argued that Russian dictator like Stalin might have been motivated by Germany's fascism ideologies.
How did the leader(s) of a third country you selected response to the Cold War
The first major action against the Cold War occurred in 1947 when President Truman took the first step to thwart the spread of communism by giving $100 million aid to Turkey as well as a $300 million aid to Greece which were in a civil war against communist insurgents (Rowland & Jones, 2010). Also, in 1947, the United States helped to rebuild the economy of Europe by providing $12 billion over a period of five years. This was meant to ensure political stability in Europe as well as to fight hunger, poverty, and despair which would have made Europeans vote their communists into political offices (Rowland & Jones, 2010)
