Introduction
Marriage becomes meaningful when the spouses are in love with each other. In our culture, marriage emancipates from love and romantic affairs between the engaged couple. Other cultures, such as the Indian people, consider arranged marriages as ideal. The article under analysis delves in identifying the emergence of love in arranged marriages by studying two cultures.
While in the past, many Canadians did not consider love as the main ingredient in marriage, the modern westerner demands respect. The earlier perception is still valid in other non-western cultures that do not consider intimacy as a marriage requirement. The article puts across the fact that matchmakers and parents arrange most marriages. Such marriages mainly end up in love cancelling the initial perception that choice marriages are the only ones involving intimacy. As the article postulates, friendship comes first and then love emerges. The article tries to investigate how arranged marriages develop the love and the lessons our western models may learn in the intimacy build up.
While numerous studies exist on the satisfaction of marriages based on love, recent studies have analyzed the achievement of arranged marriages. Such has been particular in India where 50 couples agreed that in the event of a choice marriage, loves fades over time. However, in the scenario of arranged marriages, love increases as the relationship grow and ultimately surpasses the one in intimacy marriage. Another study in India discovers that arranged marriages fetched more satisfaction than choice marriages in Canada and other western countries.
Studies in Japan have also associated more satisfaction in planned marriages compared with love marriages. In Japanese culture, both genders have an overall gratification in marriage than in Canada. Looking into the arranged marriages solely, husbands are, however, more content than their counterparts do. Women have scored lower than men have in satisfaction scales among the culture. Such relates to the fact that men feel superior among the Japanese culture. In the literature, strict division of labor exists where the wives act as servants to their husbands and dedicate to raising children for their men.
Among the orthodox Jews in America, there is no a significant difference in the experiences among the choice and arranged marriages. Contrary, alliances in china, South Africa and Turkey reveal more satisfaction in intimate weddings rather than the arranged ones mainly because the former is associated with the more affluent. Studies have shown that the main factors in cementing love in arranged marriages include accommodation, self-disclosure, physical arousal, support from family, social values, as well as variables in genetics and the environment. As such, arranged marriages prove to ignite and sustain love upon union and meeting of the marital needs. Marriage as such is not a result of desire, but intimacy is a growth and development ensues.
In the modern world where humans embrace culture integration, arranged marriages may become more popular. People have become more engaged in their financial endeavors leaving little room for love searching. Matchmakers have this way gained more popularity in making successful spouse meeting. Such is a modern form of planned marriages. Additionally, in the event of internet, web and app development have significantly gained ground. Dating apps are simply matchmakers that assist in online-arranged marriages. Robust sites such as tinder unite people across the globe, forming a new culture of online dating. Such relationships have numerously ended up in successful marriages showing the gain in popularity among arranged marriages.
