Introduction
Several findings were noted when making an analysis on the column indicating police officer's salaries and the earnings of firefighters. The gap between the starting quartile and the median for the firefighters' base salaries is over thirty-five dollars, whereas the third quartile is slightly over a thousand dollars above the middle (Bleischwitz et al., 2002). Hence this shows that there are equal numbers of firefighters that make between one hundred and eighteen thousand, one hundred and eighty-five dollars, and one hundred and nineteen, two hundred and fifty-nine dollars. Looking at the base salaries for police officers, the initial quartile mark of forty-seven thousand, five hundred and twenty-eight dollars, the medium salary is eighty-four thousand, nine hundred and thirty-eight dollars while the third quartile mark stands at eighty-eight thousand, one hundred and twenty-four dollars.
The variation between the medium and the foremost quartile is slightly over thirty-five thousand dollars while the disparity between the medium and the third quartile does not surpass the four-thousand-dollar mark. Therefore, the salaries of police officers and firefighters that fall between fifty to seventy-five per cent are more concerted, while those that fall between twenty-five to fifty per cent are sparsely distributed (Caudle, 2004). We have never experienced this severe distinction in dispersion between the quartiles and the middle in any other compensation markers.
When analyzing the central tendency for every compensation marker in each of the data sets, the mean falls below the middle point. This shows that the data being analyzed has a left skew (Nicassio, 1987). There exists higher data concentration on the right-hand side or advanced concentration of salaries on top of the mean.
The firefighters' salaries are spread, the middle mark is $147,146.52, and the third quartile is $172,070.44. They fall about thirty-five thousand dollars apart, and there is a comparable range of forty thousand dollars between the medium and the initial quartile of $107,560.07. For middle tendency, the average of the entire salaries is less than the middle figure. This figure is found because there are low salaries that pull the average figure down. Consequently, the medium is almost certainly a more exact forecaster of the middle tendency for the full amount of firefighters' salaries.(Lloyd, 2008) The middle sum of the police officers' salaries stands at ninety-five thousand, thirty-two thousand dollars that is forty thousand more than the initial quartile figure that stands at fifty-three thousand, four hundred and fifty-one dollars.
Nevertheless, the medium is only almost fifteen thousand dollars less than the third quartile figure that stands at one hundred and eleven thousand, four hundred and ninety dollars. This indicates that salaries ranging from the medium to the third quartile are more concentrated as compared to the salaries that fall below the medium point (Lomis et al., 2017). As we saw with firefighters, the average total salary for police officers that was eighty-five thousand, two hundred and thirty-five dollars is lower than the medium total salary.
In analyzing the total compensation of firefighters for diffusion, the middle total compensation of $189,170.61 is almost fifty thousand dollars more than the entire compensation at the initial quartile marker of $141,940.08 whereas the third quartile marker that stands at $215,118.08 is slightly over twenty-five thousand dollars more than the medium figure. The disparity between the medium and the twenty-fifth percentile is almost double the distinction between the medium and seventy-fifth percentile, showing that the stretch between the total compensation of firefighters moves closer jointly as the figures grow in size. Also, the average figure that is $173,389.87 for sum compensation is almost twenty thousand dollars less than the medium, indicating that that the outliers that fall at the lower end of the scale of compensation are lowering the mean down.
The total compensation of police officers is equally spread out (Rose, S. 2011). The medium mark that is $126,645.40 is almost fifty-five thousand dollars more than the twenty-fifth percentile of $72,268.30, whereas it is only approximately sixteen thousand dollars less than the seventy-fifth percentile whose figure is $143,007.20. Like we saw in the total compensation of firefighters, the total compensation of police officers between the medium and third quartile has a higher concentration when compared to the medium and initial quartile. When analyzing the central tendency for total compensation of police officers, the mean that lies at $110966.90 is less than the medium figure by fifteen thousand dollars because the compensation at the far end of the scale is pulling the average score away from the median point.
This study does not alter my plan, as indicated in Milestone One. It still appears that it would be good to eliminate the outliers from every column in all the data sets. These outliers do not show a clear picture of what is happening. Then I would also love to survey these descriptive statistics once again as I think it would be possible to locate where the salary disparities are.
This additional analysis verifies what I established in Milestone One. It seems that from this additional analysis, the data sets have the same dispersion. And this is because; the total salaries and total compensation of both the firefighters and the police officers are much closer in their smallest amount and highest than they are in the center (Chilingarian et al., 2005). In general, the total compensation and salaries for firefighters are higher than those of the police officers, even though the highest and lowest salaries or compensation are comparatively close. Considering the central tendency measures, the mean and medium, we can establish the true disparity in most salaries (Mickle et al., 2018). The smallest amount of total compensation and salary for both police and firefighters fall under one hundred and one thousand dollars. The total of police officers and firefighters' salaries is slightly two hundred and thirty thousand dollars, with a difference of about forty thousand dollars between the two professions where the salary of firefighters is slightly higher. The highest total compensation for police officers is $277,685.40, and while the amount for firefighters is $316,195.40.
Nevertheless, on average firefighters can make 51,714.29 dollars more in full amount salary and 62,423 dollars more in full amount compensation when compared to the average police officer. To further explore these disparities, I would want to eliminate the outliers and then view the data in every column again. It seems from this analysis that firefighters, on average, make significantly more than the police. Is this emanating from their difference in base salaries? Do firefighters start at a slightly higher salary, or are they just growing their salaries rapidly? I would want to get rid of the noise and make a comparison of every column to establish where major differences are coming from.
