Introduction

To begin with, the adolescent is a period during which an individual between the ages of 10 to 20 years experience both physiological and psychological changes both in girls and boys. The physiological changes are under the influence of hormone, which results in a deep voice in boys, pubic hair, and menstrual cycle in girls, pimples on the face, among others. The cognitive changes are manifested in concrete and abstract thoughts (ability to reason). These are a result of developmental changes in the brain. Adolescents tend to experience radical brain development and clear memory because of rapid brain cell growth and the urge to learn more from their immediate environment.

The relationship between the adolescent and parents and even their peers becomes autonomous -independent as they tend to be guided more by that which they hold to be right for them. This might build them or ruin them if they are not well-grounded. Romantic relationships emerge during such development stages as may be influenced by hormone and physiological satisfaction.

The adolescent also develops a sense of belonging (gender identification) depending on what they are committed to undertake. Besides, they also develop leadership abilities both at family levels and nationally. Adolescent stages have changed with time due to environmental factors attributed to technological advancement and improved nutrition. As a result, adolescents are exposed to varied life challenges, which compel them to think and make rational judgments critically.

Nutritional improvement has hormonal imbalance affecting physiological development from ordinary to abnormal. They are even able to take a slightly shorter period to complete their education life, get employed, and rejoice financial independence/self-reliance. Having attained autonomy, the adolescences can establish their own families. It is, therefore, essential to note that changes in the environment in whatever way have got a significant impact on adolescent developmental stages.

The reason why I picked on an adolescent is that it is a very crucial aspect of psychology as it tries to address the challenges we are experiencing late in our families and society at large, which revolve around parenting modalities. How a child is raised tells a lot about his or her conduct to other members of the community. Parenting has dramatically shifted to single parenthood, which has exposed adolescents to the dangers of lacking someone to set rules governing how they relate with others and monitor whether regulations are adhered to.

Consequently, society has ended up with individuals who lack self-control, violent, and cannot set targets in life and struggle to achieve. Instead, they are anti-social and depressed, leading to low life expectancy. It is, therefore, essential to review parenting mode as a way of rescuing individuals who are victims of poor parenting and prevent the occurrence of such cases in the future.

It is interesting to study adolescent and adolescent development stages because the future depends on them if they are brought up well in all the psychological domains, they will become excellent and reliable members of the society. Otherwise, we expect a future full of people with no direction. Going by the technological advancements in all industries, adolescents need to be adequately guided so that they are not swayed but rather guided on to adapt the improvement following respect to humanity. Governments should take it upon themselves to come up with strategies meant to control youths on friendly platforms such as learning institutions, religious institutions, and any other appropriate social gathering.
