My Achievements
The path down my career and academia has been an exhilarating one with its share of ups and downs, setbacks and accomplishments. The achievements I take pride in most include the successful completion of my MSc in Health Informatics, successful balancing of work with studies, and winning an award in one of my workplaces. For my academia, I not only passed with merit in my master's studies but also got a distinction in for my project. My relatives and parent were in sheer elation for this milestone. I was able to scope an award back in 2016 at my workplace. As a Health Informatics enthusiast, I was able to come up with a system that not only increased patient satisfaction and quality care but also improved the overall business process. As a result, the private health organization was able to enhance its revenue by over 60%.
The most memorable and challenging experience was when I had to work and study at the same time. All my life, I had lived an overly ambitious life. My mantra was plain and simple- hard work pays. Thus, I pursued my masters concurrently with work. Honestly, at times I thought of giving in to the pressures of the ever-increasing workload at work and assignments and projects at school. However, I pressed on. I vowed to myself to always be organized and motivated to accomplish what I had set out to do. In the end, my zeal and resilience paid off. I learned an indelible lesion concerning hard work and its sweet results. However, my success was not without challenges. In the process of striving to n=balance between work and school, I lost the circle of friends that I had gained during my tender age. The impact of this is that at times I became withdrawn and even felt depressed at times.

Quality is the foundation of all medical practice and care. As such, Mayo Clinic has always been inclined to offering care that is not only well informed and thought out but also of high quality. One way the organization achieves this is by ensuring constant training of its personnel for both administrative and medical duties. The hospital has a reputation all over the world, which it strives to meet every day. Mayo Clinic is among the top of the lists of many quality standard measures dies in the US. It has also featured the annual World Report on quality. Nonetheless, Fortune Magazine goes on further to rate the clinic among bests organization to be employed in. Following its high-end quality initiatives, the organization has scoped several wards in different forums thus raising its reputation. For instance, the hospital's Children Clinic Center in n Minnesota has been hailed for its quality care. As a result, the center received special recognition in the rankings of the Best Children's Hospital by the World Report and the US News. The organization also received a Nursing Magnet status for its quality care provided to consumers in its Rochester satellite branch.
The organization also offers medical courses to students, which are educative and highly competitive. Mayo Clinic plays a prominent role in contributing to the knowledge in the world. The institution is involved in constant research to ensure it is always up to date with the emerging issues in health. Such information is passed to individuals through the various teaching programs offered by the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. The school has been providing training to medical students for more than 100 years in nearly 50 health sciences. Annually, approximately 1600 students join the over 100 programs in the institution to begin a journey in their medical careers. The faculty I made up of nearly 480 members who are highly trained and experienced in various fields of expertise. Such educators are beneficial in offering quality education that is geared towards quality care. Some of the characteristics of the clinic school include innovative programs that earn student rewarding jobs, a team-oriented and supportive team, highly passionate and experienced faculty with a commitment to success, and top-notch research, educative and clinical resources for students. All these qualities have earned the school the No. 1 slot in the US for being the leading institution in medical teaching and training.
Innovation and research is a fundamental quality in the field of medicine. Innovation enables the solving of current issues. In the medical field, diseases are evolving and developing resistance to drugs at an alarming rate. Thus, it is imperative for all health professionals and health organization to remain relevant. Treatment modules need to be evaluated at all times with the introduction of more cost-efficient and effective techniques. At Mayo Clinic, innovation is the driving force of all projects and undertakings. The spirit of innovation is embedded in the organization's fundamental values and is further enhanced by its endowment of high-end resources. The clinic has set aside institutes for innovation and research to drive the value of innovation. As a result, Mayo Clinic contributes immensely to the quality of health care all around the world by increasing the understanding of disease processes, introducing newer and safer clinical practices and translating lab findings into clinical practices.
The organization also has its shares of challenges and weaknesses that seemingly pose a risk to the quality of care. Although a non-profit organization, Mayo Clinic faces the herculean task of ensuring growth every year. One of the weaknesses of the organization is in raising revenue for expanding its growth. The organization is funded mostly by the government, private insurance companies, and other private funders. Thus, it is difficult for the leadership of the organization to solicit fund. Since the institution is a non-profit organization, it cannot take the risk of increasing the price of services. The increase in the prices of services offered at the institution would avail more money for growth but interfere with one of the organization's pillars of providing health to everyone. Addition of medical centers has become an issue since the organization does not have extra revenue to expand its activities. The failure to expand the facility's resources reduces the ability to meet its mission that emphasizes health, research, and education. The government and other funding bodies at times fail to understand the need for expansion as expressed by the organization's management since it already has high rankings all over the world. However, expansion and growth are imperative for the achievement of quality and universal health care. Due to this, Mayo Clinic is unable to expand to many other countries.
Conclusion
If I were the CEO at Mayo clinic, I would make several changes to the mode of operation in the facility. First, I would increase the number of educators in the education branch of the organization. The reason for this is to empower more individuals to deliver healthcare services to a wide range of people. In the expansion o educators, I would also strive to recruit more teachers and students from third world countries to increase the health in the developing nations. Secondly, I would ensure that all the information obtained from the research centers of the organization are summarized in a way that offers diagnostic answers and solutions to patients. This includes elimination or simplification of medical jargons and intervention options. Finally, I would push for expansion of more branches in foreign countries, for instance, the U.K, in the African continent and other regions. This move will increase the reach of Mayo Clinic and aid in harmonizing global healthcare.
