Introduction
I spend most of my time there. You look at it and ask yourself what it is about this place that keeps me in that place. There is not a lot that can appeal to a person there. Most times I may just be gazing at my phone screen, starring at my laptop screen and if I am not on any of my gadgets, I would be lying flat on my back staring at the ceiling. My mind wandering off trying to come up with the best plans for my future. I spend the most time in my bedroom because it exuberates minimalism.
The thick, blue door greets anyone coming into the room. The outside face of the door is plain, no stickers, no paintings or funny writings. The silver door lock uses a simple mechanism where one is supposed to hold the handle part of the lock, slightly lift it up and pull it backward. That simple act and the door opens. Once inside the room, you are greeted with plain white walls. The walls are entirely plain they have no artifact or painting whatsoever. The smell of paint kicks in slightly mixed with the strong scent of deodorant. To the right of the entry door is my black ankle boots.
The Room's Layout and Key Elements
Two windows face each other on the opposite ends of the room. The larger window is on the same side as the entry door while the smaller window is on the opposite wall. A meter away from the small window is another blue door. Its lock mechanism is similar to that of the main entry door except its lock is on the inner side of the door to prevent anyone from opening the door from the outside. The door leads into the balcony which overlooks the road. Regardless of the time of the day, one can hear the sounds of the vehicles passing below. Back into the room; there are three sets of curtains. Each set features a maroon curtain with a white sheer. On the floor is a two by 3-meter fluffy brown carpet. The carpet fur is soft, almost silky like which gives a soothing sensation to any part of the body that comes in contact with it. I spend most of the time on the carpet laying on my back staring at the yellow bulb above. The lamp holder slightly extends from the plain white ceiling by some twenty centimeters.
The rest of the floor has parquet flooring that produces almost no sound when someone walks on it. Next to the carpet is a brown five by six, mattress on the floor. It is more than five inches thick, yet I spend less than a quarter of the time I am in the room on the bed. On top of the mattress is a duvet that dawns white, purple, and black colors. It's the most colorful object in the room; along with the bedsheet and pillow covers which have the same colors as the duvet. Slightly to the right, just below the small window is a small, black, leather suitcase. One can't help but notice the few shirts and trousers that lay on top of the bag. They are the only objects in the room that seem to be out of place yet ironically that's where they are supposed to be. Beside the small window is a sink with wooden wall-mounted drawers above it.
On the far right is the bathroom door. Just below in front of the door is a pair of blue slippers that are much smaller compared to the size of my foot. An indication that someone else was here. The lock mechanism is similar to that of the other doors except this door has a handle to allow one to pull the door when trying to lock it from the outside. The green bathroom door opens to the inside to reveal a trapezoidal bathroom. On its most extended section, the bathroom measures four meters while on its shortest part it measures some three meters. At the back wall of the toilet; above the water closet is a small window with translucent glass. The window has two sections that allow the upper part to open and close vertically. The plain white water closet is the most massive object in the bathroom and sits at the center of the western wall. The walls are lined with plain white tiles up to a height of three meters to prevent water from coming in contact with the paint or wall beneath.
On the east wall a silver metallic pipe with a white shower head at its end. The two combine to form a shower at the height of three meters from the bathroom floor. To the left of the shower head is a silver towel holder with a white towel hanging on it. The bathroom floor has plain white tiles. The inner section of the bathroom door is covered with aluminum material to prevent the wood from coming into contact with the water that splashes from the floor.
Conclusion
These descriptions complete the description of the room in which I spend most of my time. The room is a comfortable place to stay in because it has the basic needs that I need without going the extra mile. The minimalistic theme allows me to think clearly without feeling stuffed while inside the room. The open spaces and plain walls create the illusion of space.
