Introduction
It was on the outskirts of Los Angeles from where the young man named Zackary hailed. The man had become a renowned athlete whose efforts and achievements had been talked about all and around the state. His talents remained so unmatched that whenever he passed the streets he could hear people whisper in groups.
At merely of eighteen years of age, Zackary had acquired both regional and international athletics awards-accolades that had made most of his friends and age mates envious. The most interesting side of Zackary is that he was humble beyond human understanding. Whenever he received recognition or accolades, he remained composed and even advised some of his friends to never give up.
Having graduated from high school, the young man was proud of a few things. Obviously, he was proud of his talents, his academic achievements and of course the fact that he had gathered enough money to live in his own flat. The young man had acquired the small flat to meet the simple life of athletics that he had often dreamt of. He had acquired the small flat to keep up with the daily training schedules.
Although he began with little earnings facilitated by his talents, the money was often too little to guarantee a more decent lifestyle. However, he was often determined that one day his talent would earn him a decent living standard. The little flat had only cost him a quarter-million dollars.
Even though the ever-changing lifestyle of Zachary continually forced him to seek more financial assistance through loans, the little debt did not significantly bother him because he knew things would change for the better. He was sure that his steadfast commitment and talent would one time to earn him wealth and fame. Being a young athlete, Zackary had bought himself a pair of training regalia and first aid kits that he could carry along with him to the training field.
Although they were not much expensive, they were good enough to serve the purpose. The sports shoes were light and had a great grip of the ground and as such the Zachary was ever on the move- agile and destined for greatness. During the training, Zachary would make several lapses up and down the Pine Mountains until it was dusk.
This physical activity ensured that he was ever fit to contest in any race either within the state or beyond. He also enjoyed going around the city of Los Angeles and did not care about the distance he covered by the end of each lapse. Most interestingly is an international athlete, Zackary had a special diet that had been recommended for him by the trainers.
For instance, he had been advised to focus on raw food and the spicy veganism lifestyle. In his usual rounds at the Los Angeles city, Zackary had spotted a maiden with impeccable fashion. And so he decided to approach him one evening to have a conversation with him.
The most amusing part is that the conversation went hours on end till dusk and Zackary missed the training. This was repeated in three subsequent days thus the trainer became disappointed with him. On the fourth day, he appeared for the training with much guilt for having missed the training.
However, he apologized to the trainer who then accepted the apology and continued to coach him. During the less busy days, Zachary could pay the maiden a visit- a situation that made the maiden to join him in the daily evening pieces of training. With moral support from the maiden, Zachary began to pick up new momentum for athletics and they could even climb up Mount San Antonio.
Such achievement was so great that he could not wait to participate in an international athletics championship. However, he could no longer meet his bills due to reduced financial income orchestrated with few athletic championships within and beyond Los Angeles. Zackary had over-relied on his talent as the major source of his financial income and so he could not even afford to keep the training diet and the ever-changing lifestyle.
He was also unable to pay his usual flat bills. This condition was worsening with time and he had to abandon his initial flats. The maiden who had been close to Zackary could no longer keep up with the relationship for she saw that nothing good was coming out of him. Thus, the dog in her bit the hand that could no longer feed.
Since he could not provide the basic needs anymore, the maiden left Zackary for another man who could meet her needs. Such experience became so humiliating that Zackary abandoned training and the trainer and left for La Miranda. Even though he had relocated to La Mirada, the life there was not easy either.
Therefore, Zachary had to rent a smaller house with little donations from friends and close relatives. He had also sold his training kits to get some funds for the relocation. At this part of the city, Zachary was not exposed to the luxury life that he had had in Los Angeles.
For instance, the healthy foodstuffs, the paid trainers, air conditioners and the televisions had vanished within a twinkle of an eye and replaced with homeless men of destitution, diseased chicken as well as cockroaches among others. At La Mirada, Zachary could not afford a trainer as well as a dietician to ensure healthy feeding during the training process. The city was full of barbarians that were never dressed decently and this compromised the peace and stability of Zachary who had believed in decency.
Equipped with athletics talent, Zachary could not easily interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds such as musicians, comedians, and film makers. He could not identify himself with any of the groups and so they twirled their noses and sharply rolled their eyes especially when they saw Zachary coming. Therefore, Zachary had to set up his empire-an empire where he would feel respected and appreciated.
Sometimes, he would sit under the banyan tree and stare into space to get answers to his unending questions. Zachary kept meditating on the experiences he had had in Los Angeles- the wonderful training, the training handouts and the life with the maiden. As an athlete, he thought he could 'run' out of the situation but all he resorted to was to drink some bottles of infamous alcohol and simply smoke some cigarettes.
Fortunately, after quite some period of drug abuse and feeling of rejection, Orlando, a psychology mentor came to his rescue. Orlando has dealt with counseling such cases on several occasions before and so he had vast experience and knowledge in the field. Moreover, Orlando had worked with the regional athletics coaches' team and so he had amassed a great wealth of experts who would be beneficial to Zachary.
However, Zachary had got so addicted to drugs due to oppression that he could he had become a talented addict rather than a talented athlete. So, Orlando began with the counseling process by introducing some training sessions between the lessons. As Zachary began departing from the drug addiction life and focusing on the rejuvenation of his talents he noted that the end of one chapter of his life had actually opened another different chapter.
Orlando during the training process tried to comfort Zachary that character is often the destiny of any individual. After a period of training, Zachary got an invitation to participate in a regional athletics championship in La Miranda. All the hipsters in the area had also gone to witness the game.
Most of them were surprised to see Zachary, the man they had rejected participating in the significant game. To make matters worse, the Zachary emerged the winner in the tightly contested race within the area. Everyone could whisper his name as he passed. Most of the hipsters who had rejected him opened wide their arms to welcome him. One person said, 'welcome to La Miranda' 'things are changing,' said others in unison. The humility in Zachary was now fading as everybody was struggling to have him attend dinner in their respective homes. Ultimately, Zachary abandoned his talent and joined the hipsters where he turned into writing poems and playing music which was ideally not his talents.
