Review of the Topic

I will use keywords such as witness interference, types of witness interference, and effects of witness interference among others to search through a credible online library database for relevant information. It is vital to note that I will limit my search to articles published within the last five years to obtain the most current information regarding my study topic, witness interference. I will also research on instances where witness interference has occurred in high profile cases. The identification of instances on witness interference as well as a detailed description of witness interference will indicate the success in reviewing this topic.

Proposal for Idea Implementation

Since witness interference is detrimental to justice system, it will be imperative to develop practical ideas that will offer solution to this menace. This plan will entail researching on each type of witness interference and offering a distinct solution to the problem. For instance, in case of murdering a witness, it will be important to brainstorm the best way to protect witnesses. This can be done either through remanding a suspect without bail or through putting a witness in a protection program. However, the best method will be decided upon after extensive research from efficient judicial systems of other countries. Moreover, witness bribery and intimidation will also entail generating ideas that will ensure elimination of this menace. It will identify the best way that can ensure that victims and the accused do not interact to eliminate instances of intimidation or bribery. However, the best course of action to take will be contingent on the situation at hand.

The development of the best ideas for implementation will depend on a variety of considerations. I would consider the severity and nature of the crime in selecting the best idea to alleviate the problem of witness interference. For example, if the crime is a gruesome murder involving high profile individual, it would be vital to remand the suspect or put the witness into a witness protection program or both (Fan, 2014). Furthermore, I will consider the state of the investigation. If the case against the accused is still under investigation, I will contemplate instigation of strategic measures that ensures protection of potential witnesses. For instance, I will consider a house arrest of the suspect.

Plan for Data Collection and Testing

I will conduct an online survey aimed at establishing the severity of witness interference. I will also use online survey to identify various examples of witness interferences that exist within the criminal justice system (Callegaro, Manfreda, & Vehovar, 2015). Other than online survey, I will also use interviews and questionnaires to collect views on the best strategies that can be used to prevent witness interference. The questionnaires will be randomly distributed to common citizens, convicts, law enforcement officers, and the judiciary, among others. The views that they will give will be documented and tested to select the best suggestion for implementation. Imperatively, the data collected will be tested to ascertain if they are worth being implemented. I will use chi-square tests for qualitative data that I will obtain from the online survey and questionnaires (Sharpe, 2015).

Data Analysis Plan

Since the data from online survey and questionnaires will be descriptive, I will use qualitative data analysis criteria. This analysis method will entail three basic steps. The first step will encompass the transcription of all the unstructured data from respondents. Transcription ensures that the data collected is arranged in a form that it makes sense for analysis. This step will enable easy interpretation of transcribed data. It is worthy to mention that transcription entails representation of audible data in a written form, thereby forming a pivotal part of data analysis. Transcription software called EvaSys will be used to realize this step. The next step will be the organization of transcribed data. This process will involve arranging transcribed data into a visually vivid manner. The next step will be data coding, which is a way of data compression in a manner to warrant easy understanding of the concept under investigation. Descriptive coding will particularly be used to summarize the data's central theme. The next step will be data validation to acknowledge the accuracy and reliability of data collection methods. The last step is conclusion based on the data collected and analyzed (Miles, Huberman, & Saldana, 2013). In case of unexpected results, I will modify my questions and conduct a fresh interview and survey to avoid ambiguity.

Plan for Writing

I will start with giving general information about criminal justice system. This will include players in that exist within the justice system. After that, I will give overview of witness interference and how it is detrimental to the justice system. I will then end the introductory part with a thesis statement.

The body of the essay will explain witness interference in details. I will also outline and explains various examples of witness interference. After that, I will identify and describe various ways through witness interference can be alleviated. Resources that will help me to write this essay will be peer-reviewed sources from credible online libraries.

I will conclude my essay by restating my thesis statement. I will then highlight the general content of the paper. Finally, I will give recommendations which include improvements to be done on existing witness protection strategies to avert witness interference.
