Introduction
A hate group is any movement that is aimed at supporting acts of violence, hostility, or hatred towards other people because of various reasons such as their religious views, sexuality, disability, or ethnicity (Gerstenfeld et al. 2017). There have been a lot of hate groups which have been there for a lot of years and emerged to be big organizations having disruptive and horrific acts towards the people not supporting their views. This paper will examine the activities which are carried by a group in Michigan which is known to be the White Rabbit Radio. The paper will address the historical and demographics of the group, their incidents and their function and behavior towards their victims, and the response of the government towards this group.
White Rabbit Radio
Historical development of the group
The White Rabbit Radio is a racist online group. The group by it was started by Timothy Gallaher Murdock who is also known as Horus the Avenger in June 2013. The group has been carrying its operations for about six years having its first podcast airing in the year 2009. The group and its followers have been regarded as a white nationalist group since they have their focus on inferiority for the non-whites(Lenz, 2013). The mission of the White Rabbit Radio is meant to spread their message known to be the "Mantra." Their mantra aims in attacking multiculturalism and also blames the immigration for the supposed genocide which had happened to the white people. Their mantra "Asia for Asians, Africa for Africa, and the white's countries for everyone."
Demographics of the membership of the group
To be integrated into the group, your membership to the group is approved by Timothy Murdock of Dearborn Heights who is the group leader. The group generally focuses on race, and there are multiple groups which are affected depending on their social classes. The White Rabbit Radio group affects most of the people who are specifically the non-white race. Murdock, however, has claimed to be a non- violent individual, but he does not show to their followers (Whitaker, 2014). Some of his followers such as Anders Breivik who is the Norwegian terrorist were reported to have killed at least 77 people in his country.
The focus of hatred, who do they hate and why
The group is aimed at taking actions against those individuals who undermine their race and those targeting their race in any way. The White Rabbit Radio group focusses their hatred towards the non-whites people by carrying out their violent acts. Their hatred for the non-whites is as a result of multiculturalism and blames on the immigration for the genocide that had occurred to the white people.
How the group is structured as to function and behaviour towards their victim
The group behaviour towards the victim includes torture, rape, and also mass killings with their actions aimed at the mistreatment of the non-whites. One of the incidents that had occurred in September 2011 led to the accusation and torturing of a Chinese immigrant in the Canadian capital. Luka Rocco Magnotta who is a Canadian model had written about the white nationalists' beliefs. These beliefs were on the racism messages boards over some of the pseudonyms such as each of the countries in the world make their heritage protected, and the blacks were getting their own countries and the Chinese their own, if the white people want their own countries then they are denied their rights(Whitaker, 2014). Another incident in 2009, on the day after Barack Obama was inaugurated as the country's first black president, a man named Keith Luke murdered two black people in Brockton, Massachusetts, and raped a third before shooting and wounding her. After police captured him, Luke reportedly told them that he acted because he had been studying Internet pages from the group and came to know that the whites were being subjected to genocide.
The response of the government to the actions of this group
Since the United States government is continuing to become diverse regarding the methods used in countering the hate groups, the reported incidents regarding the actions off the White Rabbit Radio group are declining (National Crime Prevention Council, 2001). Those working on the departments of human services in the government have come up with stringent plans to help preventing and intervention of the hate crimes offenders and those falling to them as victims. The human services workers have advocated for the systems change which helps in bringing about diversity and assist their clients in understanding their human rights (CengageLearning.Rome, 2013).
Conclusion
Even though there have been continued attempts by the authorities to remove the hate groups from the society, there have met some difficulties in the process. The missions, messages and the impacts on the society have continued to be reported. The government should come up with new changes in their laws which will ensure that there is a much safer, tolerant, and violent free society which has no fear of any of the hate groups.
