There are many opinions about cheerleaders. Some good and some bad. Many people think of them as the cheerleaders standing on the field. But I see cheerleading as a symbol for all that we can do and as a way to show appreciation for the team being cheered. Many sections of the school rely on cheerleading. Nina Guenther, who is my choice to captain the Burrell High School Junior Varsity Squad, will ensure that everyone has a positive outlook and emphasize the wonderful qualities of the squad. A reason why I would make a great captain is because I am dedicated to the squad and will not give up on any obstacle. Extra practices, extra cheerleading, extra organizing, and all the other tasks a captain has to do are not work for me. It is a privilege. These tasks wouldn't bother me or frustrate because I would be happy to help any way that it helped my squad. I would handle any obstacle, regardless of whether it was for the squad, individuals, cheerleaders, or stunts, effectively helping the squad grow. If I was chosen, I am certain that I would be able to help the squad achieve new heights. I can also help each girl in the squad become a better cheerleader. I believe that you are affected by the growth and change in others. When I first walked into the tryouts last year, I can recall how nervous I felt. I put in a lot of effort throughout the season to improve my mental and physical skills. Although I am far from perfect, I can influence others by continuing to learn and getting better.
The squad members' abilities will be reflected in their attitude. As a captain, I would ensure that everyone had a positive attitude and worked hard. You will see my dedication to the squad by the time you finish reading this article. I'm determined to make this the best season ever. This squad has a lot to offer and I believe I can be a captain. Cheerleading is more than just standing there cheering. It's about how people can come together to support one another through their spirit. It's not about matching outfits and bows. It's about how people can work together to accomplish something. It's not about standing in a row. It's about how we can all work together to make a difference. It's about friendship, teamwork, hardwork and dedication. Consider me a candidate for captain for the 2013-2014 Burrell High School Junior Varsity Squad cheerleading season. We are grateful.
