The two mothers of Wes Moore the Author and the imprisoned Wes Moore earned peanuts and had to work very hard in order to make enough money to support their families. The two mothers had to work extremely hard to raise their kids into adults of their dreams. They faced an array of problems in their working setups due to gender inequalities and it occurred to their disadvantage that they were both single parents who were faced by even more challenge of supporting more than one child. The little money that they earned denied them of much prestige and power to emancipate their lives and those of their loved ones from desperate lifestyles.

Wes Moore the author's mother worked even harder to support his son and another two kids who were his sisters. The state of the economy in that family did not allow them to live in decent places and were therefore forced to live among bad neighbors who did not have the best manners a parent could anticipate for their kids. The mother of one and guardian to two was so determined towards getting the children out of that environment. She burnt the midnight oil to get that extra cash so that she could at least afford to take his son to a military school. At last she raised the money and took his only son to the military school where he could transform into a better person; away from the shrewd influence of the inappropriate neighborhood who flourished in poverty, crime, and drugs to complete a perfect example of miserable life. This is the single most important chance she gave her son besides continued moral support. The experienced enabled Wes Moore the author avoids the poor influence from the local school mates. Wes Moore's mother ensured that her financial constraints did not influence the life of her son. She was able to assure a fortunate future for his son who later came to rescue his family from the poor living standards. It is the sacrifice that Wes Moore's mother made that resulted an economic freedom through the author.

The second Wes Moore had similar financial constrains just like Wes Moore the author. The difference was that he was not placed in a favorable environment like his counterpart. His mother was not educated and a hard worker. I fact she was the exact opposite of the of Wes Moore the author's mother since she was not educated and did not have a stable job. She had turned to be a drug addict and a seller. She was deeply rooted in the culture of her neighbors where she did not make an effort to escape. The resultant was that her son ended up in the same path, a drug addict and seller. He liked the job because it gave him money and he did not have to work very hard. All the miseries begun when she dropped out of school.

In their early life, Wes Moore the author had a father who died early in his life. Wes Moore the author had seen how good his father treated them. He showed them love and care as a family, qualities that were implanted in his life. The emotional and physical support provided by the figure of a father played a big role in his life that he learned to be a responsible and caring man. These manners though ,their inspiration was cut short too early, remained thought Wes Moore's life. the author at some point accompanied by his family lived with his grandparents who also instilled a great number of moral lessons.

On the other hand, Wes Moore the savage was unlucky because he was not raised by a father at any point. The skills instilled early in life from a fatherly figure therefore lacked completely in him. The confidence a real man acquires from the closest role model lacked in him. Such predispositions led him to emulate drug addicts who were his mother's customers, allies, and suitors. Wes lived a negative life that was always on the conflict with the norms. At one point, he killed a man, an event that resulted to his imprisonment.

With a good education one get a good job that give one the key to financial freedom. Economically stable people live better lives and are less likely to engage in crime and drugs.
