There are various thoughts and actions that I regularly reflect on my mind that help me in enhancing my body image. The perfect illustration of this is where I have made it a habit of banishing all the negative thoughts from my mind whenever I tend to drift towards negativity, instead opting to replace these bad thoughts with positive thinking in which I perceive all matters from a positive perspective. Positive thinking boosts my self-confidence which in turn helps with enhancing my body image. Meditation is another habit I have created for myself where I take my ten or fifteen minutes to just close my eyes and flood my mind with positive thoughts that contribute to a positive body image. I cultivate positive thoughts in my mind by ensuring that I have found a purpose in terms of a passionate and time-passing hobby that enables me to reflect on y positive body image, thus boosting m esteem.
Contemporary societal expectations have a substantial influence on the body image of any individual. There are immediate neighbors and relatives who constitute the support that is necessary for me to accept myself as I am. However, there is the school environment where the ridicule from the other children makes one to hate themselves if they do not have a desirable body image. This is the same for colleagues in other places, be it work or tertiary academic institutions, whom have a tendency to look down upon people with body images that are deemed to be as unattractive. We also have the media that keeps promoting people with lean bodies and attractive body images while disregarding the ones without a nice body. All these aspects affect my mentality to ensure that I retain an ideal body image in terms of my body shape and size.
There are various ways that make me more content with my body image. One of these is to shut out all the media perceptions about body image and focus on doing the things that matter to me without letting the popular opinions to influence my life. I am also more contented with my body image because I regularly engage in rigorous physical activities that help my physical body to stay in shape without excess body fats (Abramson, 2016). This counters the effects of accumulating cholesterol in the body occasioned by long hours of inactivity spent while sitting down. The other way that gives me satisfaction with body image is my routine dieting regime that enables me to engage in healthy eating mechanisms. This means that I get to observe what I eat by avoiding the fatty foods while encouraging myself to consume organic food items that have not been processed.
Conclusion
My personal tastes and preferences as far as the ideal body proportion is concerned are based on a proportional size and weight of the body. Irrespective of the individual's height, my personal interest is centered on a person who has the right body size that is commensurate to the wight of their bodies. This is based on the principle of the body mass index where a short person is deemed to have an unattractive body image if they have excess body weight. It also comes out as unproportional where a tall person does not have adequate body weight such that they look like they are being blown away by strong wind.
