The United Arab Emirates incorporated various forms of transport before 1960 which included road, water, and rail. These forms of transportation were used by different personnel within the nation, and therefore they facilitated movement from one place to another. This can be witnessed with the remote and substandard road chains that had cut across the cities. Within the road systems, there were vehicles which included taxi and buses that are allowed to traverse the Emirates. Camels also formed part of the road transport during the period. Water transport on the other side consisted of ships that were used to ferry goods from one port to the other. Basically, the UAE transport system changed so fast that insured consolidated contemporary forms of transport incorporated into the system. Modern Rail, vehicles, Airplanes and ships have currently occupied the ballad land. This has been witnessed with the introduction of cars which are allowed to travel at specified speeds which include 120km/h when moving on freeways, 100km/h while driving on the rural-based roads and 80km/h when moving on urban dual carriageways. The paper will, therefore, discuss the changes in the transport system in different years.

The transport system in the UAE in the 90s had the opening of the Port Ali Jebel in Dubai which spearheaded the distribution of goods by road. As a result, Dubai-Abu Dhabi super highways became more critical to the industry at large. In the mid-1990s, this highway was broadened into four lanes on either side, resurfaced and resulted into the elimination of roundabouts which were substituted by the flyovers. During this time, the mode of transport eased, creating a possible route that could easily connect Abu Dhabi to Dubai. The establishment of the road network has seen UAE possess superb road channels that not only link emirates but rather links UAE with other far distant regions. The connection has created an overwhelming transfer of goods boosting the position of the UAE as a primary exchange arch within the Gulf world.

Before then, the rail transport had been discussed, but not much was achieved till the mid-1990s when a German delegation that was led by the then minister for transport paid a visit to the UAE in search for the space for the construction of the railway line. This was to facilitate the transportation of the containers starting at the Fujairah Port to the other inland container terminal. The aforementioned did not bore fruits instead the UAE embarked on the construction of the passenger rail which was to boost the industrial trades. This ensured the emergence of the Metro rail which has facilitated transport within the emirates over the years (Hassan et. all. 2010).

The era that came with the 80s had the UAE concentrate on the trade and the establishment of the shipping and operational centers, namely, the Port Rashid and the Port and the Free Zone of Jebel Ali in togetherness with the Dubai international airport were established. This lead to the numerous international plays in the shipping, transport, and logistics.

Before 1970, Dubai had a decidedly fewer or limited number of cars. In fact, driving a car in Dubai was so much hectic as roads had not been well established. It was only the four wheel drives, trucks, and taxis that could be seen traversing the cities. Many of the passengers relied so much on the taxi drivers who were believed to know how to navigate the sand tracks that occupied the versed land. This was because there was rear or no help at hand that could help when the vehicle sunk deep down the sand. So, they believed only the taxi could help in the transport. Land cruisers also known as the 'ships of the desert' were also used for the mode of transportation and also were preferred by many as there means of transport during the time.

On the other hand, Dubai by then enjoyed or celebrated the lower customs duties when compared to other emirates, so, traders could moonshine the goods over the land without necessarily being identified. This came about due to the shortage of the land cruisers that could not offer efficient security within the borders. The mentioned did not augur well with the authorities who later opted for the construction of the Dubai and the Abu Dhabi roads to end the mischief. As such the building finished in the year 1973 with each emirate having done there subsections but did not consider having the lighting systems along the highway (El-Sayegh, & Mansour, 2015)

Conclusion

In conclusion, UAE changes in transportation before 6o was one of the worst moments within the Emirates that were witnessed with the adverse road conditions and poor transport network. This topic is essential in that it has brought about the current developments within the road network systems within the UAE; transport network and modern forms of transport consisting of air, road, rail, and water has been developed. This has boosted the trade relations between the UAE and other cities. I would, therefore, suggest that the tremendous growth in the transport sector within the UAE should not only be limited within it but should also be seen to spread to other sectors such as education.
