Introduction
Organisations are formed for various purposes globally. Notably, the service industry is pivotal as it provides necessary services which are crucial in defining active human life; here, the sector that offers services to humanity is broadly defined. Uniquely the field serves a primary objective which is to meet essential human needs basing on an interdisciplinary base of knowledge that focuses on preventing together with establishing remedies that tackle social problems. Any social service firm operates to a commitment which is to improve the entire life through the provision of quality services to the general population (TVBH, 2019). This paper focuses on reporting on Twin Valley Behavioural Healthcare's (TVBH) general service provision to its community in the United States.
Activities That Take Place in (TVBH)
TVBH is a firm that offers inpatient services to people who suffer severe mental health syndromes like madness and depression with its headquarters in Columbus OH. The organisation is equipped with four units that serve acute mental problems and four other long-term-units which help to keep patients that have different severity of behavioural health illnesses an example of drug addiction, depression and high blood pressure (Liptzin et al., 2015). In the facility, different experts are entitled to various tasks to assist patients to get back to their stable mental state before being released back to their community. Psychiatrists are stationed in short term units to offer counselling services to patients who are on a mild state of mental illness. The long term section holds housing patients who are well thought-out not guilty using insanity and patients that have been recalled to the unit. TVBH considers the long term unit as its legal sector.
The Purpose of TVBH
TVBH was established to mentor patients with behavioural challenges as they try to cope back into normalcy. The facility embeds its purpose by incorporating psychiatrists together with other professionals like social workers and psychologists who are supposed to offer mental services to patients in the facility based on the available budget to finance the care of individuals with psychological challenges (Liptzin et al., 2015). Aligning to the set budget through active management is critical towards accomplishing the goal of a budget set in TVBH. The facility operates on an objective which is set to assist people with a mental health condition in changing and suiting in the society through set criteria that entails psychological and medical treatment to both units in the facility. The evaluation of the objective requires a medical diagnosis which will ascertain that a patient is ready for discharge and follow-up procedures to be put in place. The organisation based on collaborative care a policy which is later in place to assist in handling the large population of people with a mental health condition that is admitted in the firm (Liptzin et al., 2015).
Conversational Services in TVBH
Various talks take place in the firm, mainly, the social workers engage with patients in matters concerning patient release back to the community and the necessity of leading a positive life before discharge. Moreover, the social workers participate in conversations with discharge personnel on who to discharge from the facility. On the other hand, psychiatrists always engage interviews with patients concerning medication and dosage amid the need to help stabilise their health conditions (Liptzin et al., 2015).
Further, the psychiatrists show concern by questioning how patients are feeling and if they have any concern on medication, and the overall assessment of how patients are faring on while in the facility. Psychologists in the firm have a role in discussing and planning a meeting with patients to finalise assessment. Also, they offer counselling services to assist people with a mental health condition in coping with their situation (Liptzin et al., 2015).
Another essential communication that takes place in the facility is between the nurses. Nurses have a mandate to monitor how patients are faring on in matters of medication and behavioural shifts. Nurses in TVBH talk on issues concerning patient's locations, that is, if a patient is available at the assigned unit in the facility and cases concerning diverse patient levels in mental development (Liptzin et al., 2015). Patients in level 1 are not allowed to leave their unit, those that are assigned in unit 2 are allowed to leave their unit accompanied by a supervisor who checks them as they along towards the treatment mall. Patients who are in level 3 are entitled to walk the locked hallways freely when moving towards and from the treatment mall. The medical director in TVBH communicates with the nursing manager, social workers and psychiatrists to be briefed on the progress of patients.
Practices in TVBH
Patients are engaged in environmental practices which divert the causative agents of their mental condition. More so, the nurses interact with the patients in the facility to assist them in getting what they need and make sure that patients are improving as they take medications (Liptzin et al., 2015). The social workers in TVBH practice case management which connects the behavioural patients with available resources in the community an example of local mental agencies, for further psychological counselling and medication services. Also, social workers assist patients who have been discharged from TVBH to obtain job placement and apply for Medicaid services.
Population in TVBH
The facility has a diverse population which are people suffering from alcoholism and drug abuse, those people with severe psychological health problems, and at times the facility admits developmentally incapacitated patients (Liptzin et al., 2015). The purpose why TVBH accommodates these population is to ensure they receive effective mental and developmental services which will incorporate them back to the society.
The Look of the Population in TVBH
The population that is presented for admission in TVBH is very fragile and requires careful treatment. Patients in the facility showcase a variety of behavioural symptoms like depression, suicidal, aggression, manic, homicidal, drug-induced psychosis, and other risky behaviours that require acute care (Liptzin et al., 2015). Majority of the population is individuals aged eighteen years and above, the facility limits admission to juveniles.
Being an Administrator in TVBH
TVBH is among the growing behavioural care facilities globally that offer support to leadership and management skills to its administrators. The practice support group runs its operations from the firm's headquarters in Columbus OH. Being a manager at TVBH requires one to enhance the collaborative service delivery system which is embedded in teamwork. Collaboration offers room for employees to be the diligent human resources which provides the facility with services that link towards achieving the set goal. A manager in TVBH has to ensure the smooth operations of services like information technology, marketing, behavioural management and billing services that ensure that patients are adequately served while in the facility to offer quality and effective firm management (Young, 2016). The manager has to ensure that employee appraisal and adequate payment is critical to boost morale among workers.
Conclusion
The term human service organisation links to a firm's social functioning and is among the trending movements in the service industry. The sector is essential as it entails unique domains that are a concern to the social life of people, and involves different personnel which combines the entire global organisational style to service delivery and planning. The social work department in TVBH is essential to conceptualise on the functionality of the firm, and more research is required to offer more insights on how human service organisations should be managed.
