Introduction
The films tend to explore the story of Queen Victoria when she was young. It reviews her life from the time of coronation to the period she ascended into the throne at the age of 18 years as well as her marriage to Albert. The explorations of the life of the Young Victoria is centered on the 19th century's British adaptation of monarchy. It focuses on the personality of Victoria as one of the youngest queens of Britain. It also brings insight into her relationship with Prince Albert, an experience that was unique in history. The story of the Young Victoria is based on true happenings. However, some scenes of the film look like pure fantasy or edited from the real events, for instance, the assassination attempt. But in general, the film shows interesting events adapted from the early life of Queen Victoria as it indicates the real or facts about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's relationship.
The cast for the film was highly talented, making them fit in the const. Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend who played s Victoria and Prince Albert are the two matching characters who play their role perfectly in the film. They indicate the way the affection grew as the time passed to become love at the end. The atmosphere also pervaded in the English landscape.
Another interesting feature of the film is the pivotal scene of coronation that is featured two times in the film. For the first time, it is featured in a form of flash-forward by the camera focusing on the coronation ceremony. These events include the robe, audience that has already gathered to attend the ceremony, the crown and eventually focusing on Victoria's face (Vallee,n.p). Victoria's face shows some signs of fear and concern. The camera then changes the focuses and shoots at Victoria's mother, then introduces the next shot. This next shot indicates the way the story would unfold resulting in the coronation.
There is a bit of a strained relationship between Victoria and her mother. It is not clear whether it was the same in real life, but the film indicates some strained relationship between Victoria and her mother. Another intriguing thing in the film is the development of Victoria's relationship with Albert. Albert supported and helped Victoria throughout her life up to the time he died in 1861. The events from the film show these kinds of support and romance between the two characters. The couple confronted each other with ideas, which eventually made the life of the people better because the couple came up with good ideas to support the welfare of the people (Vallee,n.p). All these situations are captured perfectly in the film. Before watching the film, one would have reasoned that Victoria ruled alone but that was not the case as she had a companion who supported all in decision making and implementation. The witty interactions and comebacks indicated in the film as well as the reality of their relationships were almost 100% common with reality. They could argue and about life and finally made the correct decisions.
The film is enjoyable to watch but it is a little bit too short as it does not capture the whole events in the life and ruling of Queen Victoria. A film that deals with the political journey and matters changes during the reign of Victoria should have been more exhaustive. For instance, non-British residents who had no idea of Queen Victoria would not get a precise knowledge of Victoria's period by watching that movie. More so, the film focused on the life of Queen Victoria, leaving out the information about her fiancee or husband, Prince Albert. It would have been more balanced if the life history of the two characters is focused on the film. However, the film is well captivating and interesting based on the characters chosen, the setting and the events.
