How might artificial intelligence help optimize the design process in the future is done?

The transformation that has been witnessed in the building information modelling so far has been prompted by the presence of artificial intelligence. The transformations that have been witnessed over the last decade and a half are a lot in the construction industry. The aspects which have changed are the different aspects of design, communication, the drawing generation, collaboration and others. Since the world of technology is changing, and artificial intelligence is developing, it will also lead to changes in the BIM. Artificial intelligence is used in different types of companies such as in the architecture, engineering and construction. In the architecture company, artificial intelligence is recognized as there are more workers responding and it is an indication that it can be able to influence other such as engineering and construction considering that they at times work together. In these organizations, BIM is yet to be recognized as not most of them use it in their projects. However, if it were to become popularized with time, it means that in future, more organizations will have adopted using it as seen in tables one and two. If the companies using BIM were to map their improvements, then it would help motivate other organizations into adopting the same approaches.

Once the machines are produced in a more cost-effective manner, they will also be able to reduce the cost of maintenance and the overall benefit will be experienced by the company as outlined in table 6. According to the statistics in table four, the artificial intelligence is predicted to have average influence to the building industry. Most organizations are not willing to risk initially and thus an average number of companies will be trying using artificial intelligence. It reduces the risk of failure. There are high chances of high influence also, where companies are able to witness the performance of others after using artificial intelligence and are willing to try. The first approach is where artificial intelligence supports numerous functions which are familiar to different businesses, for instance, in human resources. Since artificial intelligence is gaining recognition in the architectural organizations, there are high chances of a realistic influence on the designs in the future. Though it is not certain, there are architects who are already aware of how to use artificial intelligence to manipulate their designs for improvement. However, there are still some people who may feel that it is not realistic for AI to influence the designs in future as seen by the statistics in table 8.Through the utilization of the AI techniques, optimization will be developed, and experiments on quality control of the products and design structures will be done. For productivity to be achieved, construction will be required to shift from the conceptual to constructible model. It is where the augmented reality technologies or the mixed reality will participate to empower the digital engineering processes. Through the use of artificial intelligence, progressive construction methods such as 3D pre-assembled and printing modules can help reduce the expense of the construction process and increase the building at the same time maintaining quality and safety, relating to table 4.

Initially, the tools that were used in the BIM were redundant, and they did not have simple plugins. As technology developed and began to be adopted in different parts of operations, construction processes were not left behind. Some new plugs were brought in the operations such as the hanger plugins, sprinkler plugins, and others and they had the power to understand what they were expected to perform. They could solve problems just like human beings, concerning the placement of different objects. Since obstacles will be faced during the operations such as on design rules, forms of clashes, constructability issues and overlaps, the next design of the plugins should be made in a way that it will address all these issues.

How might artificial intelligence reshape the services and cooperation's between architects and engineers?

The architects and engineers assist each other in construction. The architect is involved in coming up with the design of the building while the engineer is involved in making the building using the design provided. The two are required to work together to make sure that the work is eased, the correct tools used, less time in construction and minimizing any mistakes which may happen. The work is made easier through the use of artificial intelligence in construction. In design and construction, artificial intelligence plays a large role, as seen in table 5. It assists in machine learning by carrying out deep learning and predicts analytics. The architect and the engineer are required to work together so that they can help in carrying out the correct prediction depending on the building they are intending to construct and learning deeper about every feature so that they can determine the improved tools to be used in specific areas.

According to table five, artificial intelligence is not yet known if it will influence the future designs. However, there is a good chance that change will be noted though the chances are still higher with no changes being noted. However, the influence to be seen will be in natural language processing. After an architect comes up with a design, it is translated into a language that the engineer will understand which is necessary for making the correct building. It is necessary for information extraction, for instance, describing different aspects of the building design to the engineer. Building design may appear simple, but each aspect counts and an engineer is required to understand to avoid making any errors. Such aspects involve the measurements and sizes of different materials to be used. Through the processing of the natural language, classification and clustering of information are done to understand different aspects of the building.

After the design has been made, the engineer and the architect have to work together using the model checker that is based on artificial intelligence. The model is necessary as it helps verify a 3 D BIM model in detecting different defects such as clash detection. It is necessary to establish the geometric collision between the elements of construction that are not compatible. Since the two specialized group of people are working together, it is an indication that they will achieve a better quality of the construction as they will assist each other in eliminating all errors that may exist in the building process. Since an engineer has explored different things, they can assist the architect to come up with designs through exploration. It will help in coming up with new designs that will improve the overall construction such as the different slope type of roof that exist depending on the weather of the region. The engineer can describe a design, and at the same time, the architect can draw it and through conceptualizing, it will help come up with improved construction.

Through artificial intelligence, the services and the relationship between an architect and an engineer are improved. They can assist each other in coming up with improved designs. The services are of high-quality and fewer mistakes, and errors are witnessed in the BIM.
