Touring every corner of the world is one of the most amazing experiences that a person can go through. Traveling to various destinations around the universe is a fun thing to do, especially when one has awesome company of either friends or family. I clearly remember one of such travels that I experienced in one of my holidays where me and my family went on a family tour to the breathtaking continent of Africa. The experiences, events, atmosphere, people, and their cultures were some of the most unforgettable things to have ever happened to me. Before departure, my family members and I started out the day with packing all the essential items that we would require for our travel. This was not a hard thing to accomplish as we believed only a few items would be necessary to make our tour a success. Our parents had organized for the most comfortable flight and hotel accommodation to ensure our stay in the country we would visit was as smooth as possible. It was a very exciting time for me as I looked forward to all the memories I would create while I was on the trip far away from our home country. Although we had previously visited other places, there was a tense eagerness in me that could not wait to experience all the adventure that Africa had to offer.
The moment we landed in one of our travel destinations I was taken aback by the amazing scenery which we witnessed. I immediately fell in love with the geographical features of the country (South Africa is a very beautiful place to say the least) all the way from the coastal places to the urban centers. The beaches were so clear that it was relaxing to just lie down and take in the sun as it gently permeated our skins. The country has capitalized on these magnificent scenery to build some of the most fascinating facilities for both domestic and foreign visitors. This moment made me appreciate our parents even more because I understood the sacrifices that they had to make to get us on this trip. The mountainous regions were such a spectacle to behold as they gave the best geographical features. My siblings could not let this moment pass as they were always on standby with their cameras to capture the scenic moments of this beautiful terrain. The trees filled up parts of the jungle with tall willows and attractive flowers blooming during the spring season of this country. Needless to say, the majority of the plants were very beneficial to the local residents in terms of having medicinal and food benefits; due to the excess supply of avocados, mangoes, passion fruits, papaws, pineapples, apples, oranges, tangerines, and even guavas.
Perhaps the most thrilling part of this adventurous trip remains to be the tours to the national parks and other wildlife sanctuaries. You see - whenever we are in our country - the best we could do to see any wildlife animal is to visit a zoo. However, on this particular safari, I was more than excited to come up close near the various animals that I normally read in books. I could not believe my eyes when the first animal that we saw was an elephant that had strayed behind away from its family herd. The size of this animal, believed to be the largest mammal on earth, is so huge that one gets afraid at the thought of what the elephant would do if it went in a rampage. The next animal we saw was a giraffe towering above the trees as it grazed peacefully on the high bushes. Nature is truly amazing in that the larger animals were created as the peaceful ones. The serenity of these animals in their natural habitat was a sight to behold and I cannot wait for such an adventure again. Equally captivating was a sight of a pack of hyenas feasting on a buffalo carcass after a pride of lion had eaten to its fill. Although we never saw the lions, the clearing act of these hyenas gave us a glimpse of how competitive the wild can get as each animal has to fight for food for their survival.
The trip to Africa was made a special one by the people at the places we visited. From customer-friendly hospitality stewards to the tour guides in the national parks, all the local people we met were friendly, warm, and cordial towards us. In addition to this unexpected hospitality, the African people have a rich and diverse array of cultures going by their authentic food, language, and clothing. I did not think that we would have an easy time since I anticipated language barrier to be a hindrance in our trip. This was a pleasant surprise to find that the local residents were fluent in both their local dialects and foreign languages. They definitely spiced up our adventure by narrating the various stories about their people. I felt really good to learn about the cultural ways of other people since I had only grown around my community and its traditions. I was so glad to learn that we share common practices, cultural and religious, with some of the people from this diverse continent. The peaceful co-existence of the various ethnic communities in this place was special as it created a sense of brotherhood and togetherness that lacks in other places around the world. It was pleasing to see people of my age attend school with a vision of pursuing their future dreams.
Conclusion
As a parting short, there is no denying that this trip changed my personality for the better. I have my parents to thank for organizing this traveling experience because it opened my eyes to other parts of the world that we only learn in school through reading books. I will forever be grateful for the exposure that I got from this trip especially the beautiful scenery and geographical features of new places. Equally thrilling were the good moments where we got to see wildlife animals up close. As if this was not enough, interacting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds got me to realize that people are all the same all over the world because everything they do is meant for survival and well-being of their future generations. Fast forward to the present day, this trip has remained glued in my mind as flashes of its adventure keep crossing my mind whether I am at school or at home. All in all, this trip made me realize that there is more to the world that each of us needs to explore and not just confining ourselves to our home countries.
