The literary piece that stands out to me is the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare. The play is all inclusive with regards to its setting, context, and themes, which mainly depict the day-to-day human experiences. Shakespeare details the play, Hamlet in a manner that it communicates to people both from his times, this generation, and hopefully the future generations. The Norton Anthology of World Literature by Puchner, Martin, et al. highlights that, "literature is a human thing in its entirety, and nothing is more interesting to human as knowing and studying humanity in all its aspects" (23)

Any literary work for study purposes needs to "portray topics of study that allow for critical analysis" (Puchner, Martin, et al 24). The play, Hamlet has a vast array of opportunities for critical review. The three main topics that all the readers of Hamlet can relate to in life are the search for identity, struggle to seek the clarity of events in life and why they happen, and the plight of women in the society. The themes in the play include but not limited to political livelihood, discrimination, mortality, and madness (Shakespeare 6).

The book Norton Anthology of World Literature recognizes any literary work that "has an expanse of themes both in text and textually, written with eloquence, and can be understood easily on analysis" (25). The play, Hamlet is thematically analytical, dramatic, and can be applied to personal life, education, and I consider it one of the best literary pieces. Despite its fictitiousness, it is significant because it relates to the common happenings in the lives of many people. The work is a drama and, therefore, appeals to many people. The themes of the piece come out clearly and their interpretations are even easier because this is an acted literary piece. The nature of work is best for teaching literature in schools. As a literary piece, Hamlet portrays a fascinating story that set main characters in difficult and complex relationships and, therefore, may not satisfy the hearts of some people. Nevertheless, the play has sufficient capacity to jog up the brain during analysis and, therefore, significant for learning the world's literature.

Conclusion

The play Hamlet is unique among other plays. The common literary works often depict struggle and conflicts between characters. However, this drama, in addition to the common norm, depicts conflicts and struggles within an individual, Hamlet. This book is a new form of literacy that should gather more interest in its study and learning. Human often struggles to identify himself in life and be sure of the steps to follow in life. However, because life entails many forms of risks, each step and decisions yet to be made bring forth a sense of fear of what may happen afterward, the fear of the unknown. This is what Hamlet, who the main character in the play, struggles with, and seeks to find its solution. An instant is when Hamlet tries to think of the complexities of death and mortality, life and what happens after its apparent ending (Shakespeare 26). Hamlet cannot stop thinking of his father's death and thinks of it as from when it occurs in the play and as the play progresses. Sometimes, one has to stop and ponder about the life occurrences, even if there are no exact answers. Such questions are important because they may lead to positive solutions to overcome the life challenges. Therefore, the literary piece that stands out to me is Hamlet, by William Shakespeare.
