Tom Brady has numerous accomplishments and winning records than any other player in the NFL (Aretha, David 6). He has won six super bowls, becoming the first American football quarterback player to hit this record. This is the most super bowls won in the NFL. These accomplishments have made Tom to be considered the greatest quarterback in league history. He is also found the most significant "steal" in the National Football League history due to his late selection to the Patriots.

Additionally, Tom Brady won four super bowls in the MVP awards and three for league MVP awards in 2007, 2010 and 2017. He is the oldest player for all these awards. Drew Brees, on the other hand, is a quarterback who left Purdue as the most decorated NFL player (Aretha, David 9). He has nineteen university records, thirteen Big Ten Conference records, and two NCAA records. He has the best record in the NFL history of several passing categories, yards and attempts. He is considered the greatest passers of all time. This paper shall carry out a contrast analysis of these two veteran NFL players.

The two players' careers began only a year apart. New England Patriots drafted Brady late with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL 6th round. San Diego first drafted brees with the 32nd pick. Brees was drafted in the 2001 NFL second round. Brady has played an average of 13.2 games per season for the past 18 seasons while Brady has played an average of 13.7 games in 17 seasons. In the past 11 seasons, Drew Brees has played in all 16 games. Brady sat at the bench in the year 2001 as a side rookie. He played only four games in the 2016 NFL league due to suspension (Deubert & Christopher 19). Brady is slightly taller than Brees, with 6-foot-4 and 225-lbs. Brees hardly makes 6-foot and 209-lbs. Apart from the 2007 and 2009 seasons, Brees has thrown for more yards since 2006, than Brady. Brees passed 5,000 yards in 5 seasons. The difference between Brees' and Brady's yards that have been passed for is 4,529. Brees averages 23.9 more yards per game than Brady. Also, Brees has nine more career touchdown passes than his counterpart Brady. As mentioned above, Brees was drafted a year later, but he managed to amass his team's NFL figures to equalize with Brady's since the historical loss of Patriot quarterback in 2008 season to the ACL tear.

Brady has a 3 to 1 TD/INT ratio while Brees' is almost 2 to 1 TD/INT. Brady has capitalized in this ratio to differentiate himself from Brees. In all seasons apart from the 2006 and 2009, Brees has recorded more interceptions than Brady. Brees has been very prolific in his productivity for the team, enabling the Saints to make it to the NFC Championship and further winning the Super Bowls. However, Brady has illustrated the ability to lift his team than Brees. Brees has the habit of throwing back and breaking interceptions, factors which have played a role in his inability to raise his team.

Brady has a higher career passing rate compared to Brees. Brady's rating is 97.2 against Brees' 96.3 (Deubert & Christopher 19). However, Brees has a higher completion percentage of 66.6% than Brady's 63%. Additionally, Brees has been consistent in the successful completions since 2006. Since then, he has recorded the highest completion percentage than any other player in the league. He only tied with Brady in the year 2013, where they both recorded a completion percentage of 63%. Furthermore, Brees has a higher career completion rate than Brady.

Also, the Super Bowl championship appearances make a significant contrast between these two iconic players. Brady has won five out of the seven Bowl appearances while Brees has just won one Super Bowl in the MVP trophy. He has more comebacks than Brady, holding the award for the comeback player of the year in the 2014 NFL awards. In the last five seasons, Drew has had more attempts than Brady. Brees has recorded 3,145 efforts against Tom's 2,847 in the said period.

Lastly, Brady has an interest in politics while Brees is interested in charity and volunteer activities (Myers & Gary 55). For instance, Brady demonstrated interest to become a senator in 2004, calling the dream a "craziest ambition." He was also spotted in several functions under the reign of the former president George Bush, the famous one being his attendance in the State of the Union Address as a special guest in 2004. He is said to be a close friend to the current US president Donald Trump, having stated in 2017 that he has known the president for 16 years. Subsequently, President Trump has acknowledged having made contact with Brady in public rallies and indicated that Brady supports him. Brees, on the other hand, was said to have helped significantly in the Hurricane Katrina tragedy in his attempt to have an Orleans' city rebirth. He is dear to his fans because he still has his family living in Orleans instead of porch suburbs. Currently, Brees and his wife are running a foundation that supports cancer patients.
