Introduction

Technology has played a vital role in our lives. Many people find it cumbersome to live in a world without the proper technology, or their communication services have failed to operate. Technology has facilitated a higher degree of intercommunication between different people and different occupations. Among one of the benefiting factor that has widely been associated with the technology is the ability to use technology to do things that we could not do in the previous years. For instance, today, one has the luxury to choose whether to make a follow up of the proceedings of a board meeting while sending an email. The idea of technology, in this case, is deemed as the element used to multitask, giving the use of the technology, an opportunity to become what they want. Whereas nearly every user has widely supported the benefits of technology, there is a significant downside, that has affected the way humans interact and socialize with one another. Among the negative sides of using technology, includes the gradual loss of communication, and learning to socialize naturally. More humans now have the opportunity to choose whom to listen to, and what to listen to, picking only fewer information from a presentation, as the concept of multitasking interferes with their communication process. While many people enjoy the benefit of technology, some are already experiencing the effects.

Summary

Technology has revolutionized the way we communicate at home, school and even at our workplace. Technology has played a vital role in human lives by providing a suitable avenue to enhance and increase communication. As Turkle, (2012) outlined, technology today permits us to do different things that we could not do in the past. For instance, the parents have the liberty of checking their emails while taking breakfast in the morning. In the past years, this was limited, reducing the potential possibilities of multitasking. Even so, technology has gradually changed everything, from how we communicate, to weigh what we say, and what impacts, our conversations can have.

Indeed, the advancement of technology has posed different sidekicks, which are affecting the community. Today, people have developed excellent texting skills, as opposed to natural communication, people have to weigh every information they say while conversing in a natural means. As Turkle, (2012) observed, most of the people make a suitable choice of texting as opposed to real talks, since the face-to-face communication happens in a real-time; hence, every beat of information in the conversation matters.

The use of mobile phones is more potent than it appears. People can choose who to talk to, and who they should not speak to as well. Through this, people can make different choices. As a result, technology is creating a society that is technologically united but socially disrupted. People cannot establish proper communication or socialize with one another.

Technology is taking a step further on human social life. It has dictated how we reconnect and care for each other. As the advancement of technology is widely celebrated, we have lost the sense of communication and care for each other. Through this, it is time to redefine ourselves, through using technology where it is supposed to be used and engage more in natural conversations to help create a social environment for every person.

Thesis Statement

I concur with the speaker's analysis and opinion regarding the hazardous effects of technology that are slowly affecting our daily lives. The embracing of technology has portrayed different dangerous social concept that is gradually consuming the entire society. Thus, technology has played a massive role in distorting the way we interact with one another.

Do you agree or disagree with what the speaker says about the topic? Why?

Technology has taken a more substantial portion of our lives, despite being taken for granted by many who use it. There are fewer cases where technology has to revamp the meaning of communication and socialization. The speaker's primary concern, in this case, is the level of distortion and how the use of technology has turned a blind eye on the matter. Today technology is allowing us to do what we could not do in the past. People can choose their company, and who to socialize with via the use of technology. However, the choices we make using technology are far more different as compared to what we usually associate ourselves with routinely.

Indeed, the speaker's observation is more accurate and concise regarding the threats projected by the increasing use of technology. The current generation is increasingly using technology as a way of escaping from reality. As Turkle, (2012) observed in her presentation, technology has been used as a tool of evading direct communication and leaning the ultimate principles of communication "this morning, my daughter texted me, wishing me good luck" (Turkle, 2012). Through this, it is indeed that technology is doing more harm than good to the diverse community.

The society is using technology more than in the past. The use of social media, to help deal in a conversation is one of the popular available methods, that many individuals within the society have ben n accustomed to. However, this harm posed by this concept is by far, one of the leading causes to lower rates of socialization. People tend to increasingly use social media, as compared to going out and socializing. As a result, everyone is keen on what they say and what they converse, hence opting to use technology, since the conversation is not in a real-time environment, and there are ways one can control or manipulate the entire conversation to give him or her a new personality.

The use of technology today is undermining the relationship between parents and children, as parents sink deeper into their phones, children are denied the full attention of their parents. Additionally, the use of technology at the funeral, or during teens socialization moment has been widely interrupted by technology. "People text at the funeral" (Turkle, 2012). Through this, it is critical to see how technology is undermining socialization.

Conclusion

Technology has created a concept of being "alone together," despite a group of people being physically present. The use of smartphones reduces attention in the group, with each member engaging in virtual communication with other people. As a result, technology has managed to create a loneliness moment, even after trying to bring about diversification. As a result, it is essential to use technology to bring back the old days. In this case, the speaker urges people to use most of their free time to make new friends, and socialize at the absence of technology. In this case, people will develop, good and reasonable communication skills, as opposed to the use of virtual communication via the use of technology.
