Maude, F. (2015). Giving community organisers the power to create real change. Retrieved from Government of UK: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/giving-community-organisers-the-power-to-create-real-change.

This source is from a government source on the government efforts in the UK to embrace change in the community by engaging in community organization exercises towards achieving overall change. The UK government has put in place measures to ensure that change is more easily achieved through the combined effort of the government and citizens. This program is aimed at giving members of the community the power to note their problems and solve communal problems without having to result to the national or local government for anything other than technical help. Community organization as a form of social change is not a new thing, with the British enjoying the heritage of many social philanthropists who gave say on issues such as universal suffrage and the end to slavery. Now such issues of social concern such as environmental protection and safer neighborhoods have become the concern for local communities (Maude, 2015).

Community based interventions have especially been useful in the area of healthcare. This can be seen in the various steps that have been undertaken to ensure that public health concerns can be mediated and managed to reduce the possibility of adversity to the general population. This article has been published in the American Journal of Public Health, meaning that it has been properly reviewed as a verifiable source of public health information. Community based interventions have especially been effective in the area of dealing with health menaces such as HIV/Aids, cholera among other diseases. As such, community based interventions should be given much seriousness as valid sources of change in the overall society. This is in view of the disposition that the article holds, namely that the community is the basic unit of society from which all change may spring at the most basic level (McLeroy, Norton, Kegler, Burdin, & Sumaya, 2003).
