Introduction
There has been an increase in crime rate as there are very many cases reported this year. The trend at which criminal activities and insecurity are being reported is stressing. There are reported cases of corruption, racism, terrorism, organized crimes, community boundary disputes and substance abuse (Fridell, 2017). The rate of biased policing has increased significantly and incidences of Government corruption has also gone high where most of the top Government officials have corruption cases in courts. Police officers use excessive force when dealing with rioters. The general public is not happy with what is going on in the country and therefore they organized riots along the streets to demand a change.
Purpose of this Report
This report is aimed at highlighting the current situation of the country relating to various criminal activities which mostly happen in the Government. There are various sections of this report that highlight the key findings that have been discovered during the investigation. Reported cases on corruption, racism, abduction, biased policing and judgment made by the courts show that such incidences are high.
Corruption
It is shown that for the police to redeem its reputation in the eye of the citizens, it is essential for the police officers to practice decorum. Their behavior and high level of corruption reduce public trust in the kind of services they offer to the general public and so it is difficult for the police to develop a police-citizen relationship (Fridell, 2016). In order to establish a high level of accountability and ethical conduct, it is essential to establish measures in liaison with other important stakeholders such as bodies responsible for fighting corruption to conduct surveillance and ensure that all corrupt police officers are arrested. Other corruption cases that do not warrant prosecution should be handled within the police department.
Biased Policing and Racism
There are several cases of biased policing practices witnessed in the country. Biasness is witnessed in several cases where citizens report incidences of kidnapping but no thorough investigation is done. The police do not do a thorough investigation but when it is done physical evidence such as plaster cats are not being carried out to conceal the evidence. At the same time, the medical examination is also done partially so that the police could not get physical evidence that could prove the case (Davis, 2010). Al these were witnessed in cases involving black people. Many people also report that police officers are not documenting various incidents reported by black people such as Kayla. Kayla reported that they cannot be helped because they are of the wrong color and for that matter, they must help themselves.
Recommendation
It is recommended for the Government to improve police oversight which is an essential way of reducing police misconduct. It is also vital to improve police training on diversity because current training does not teach police officers on the importance of diversity. Finally, it is necessary to strengthen recruitment practices to ensure there is a principle of matching the racial composition of police officers in the country (Fridell, 2017). The creation of a diverse law enforcement agency is able to develop a more effective relationship with the general community it serves thus promote trust in the fairness of law enforcement. This can facilitate good policing practices by encouraging the public to support and cooperate with the police.
