Introduction
Singin' in the rain is a classic film that was first aired in 1952 by Gene Kelly as the leading man and Stanley Donen at studios called MGM. Portrayed as Don Lockwood in the film, Kelly narrates how he and his Donald O' Connor featured as Cosmo worked their way in Hollywood. Indeed, this flashback springs a lot of cinema development in its early years in people's minds. The dynamic, fluidity, and composition of the movie have been boosted by great musical tones and slapstick comedy as made the movie to be enjoyed over the years.
One of the issues that have been observed over the years in the development of Hollywood Cinema is the use of iconic songs. In the film "Singin in the Rain," the author uses songs that are enlisted and owned by MGM, which were composed between the late 1920s and late 1930s. The original composition of these songs did not capture into details the need to have sensible lyrics to rhyme with the music. History has it that Arthur Freed was the person who worked hard to put more sensible words to these songs with the close help of Nacio Herb Brown, who worked on the fluidity of the music. At these stages, Gene Kelly was the movie's choreographer. In charging his duties, Kelly had to make routines to every dancing and a musical number to people and himself.
The released of this film relied on the infectious dance numbers and the names of the superstars. One of the critical development of the movies is the inclusion of extra parody level into its nostalgic plot that relies on disruptive changes from a silent film to a talky movie. The film speaks volumes on Hollywood musical numbers to be induced a satirical affection. In this film, the music gives an image of an inherent level making it have an identifiable character. The film simple glorifies Hollywood entertainment.
In that regard, a classical Hollywood Cinema of the modern era makes a fictional character as a prime causal agent to unify the story. The cinema also constructs a linear plot to emphasis the story in a broader context. For instance, the use of "the movie within a movie" concepts plot in this film makes it ignore the need to have scene numbers and full-scale production numbers. Arguably, this film demystifies early talkies, serious theatre, and silent movies while giving credits to musical comedy (Merck). In this movies, the characters operate a perfected choreography through the accompaniment of playful horns and orchestra.
Since the Hollywood industry incorporated the use of music, musical movies mostly have similar elements. Musical film is a type of movie genre where the characters involved sings the songs that related to the general story. The elements used in musical films makes the audience feel as having a live watching. In essence, at the theater, the movie viewers are the audience members as the main characters act directly to them. Based on the popularity of music in film, the Hollywood industry has developed rapidly.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the flashback made by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen has opened the eyes of Hollywood directors to the fantastic musical, classic, and comedy film. Indeed, the film speaks volumes on the transition of production of silent films to talkies movies that cannot be ignored. Therefore, the flashback on Lockwood's journey reveals the commercial interest of the studios and capricious fame temperament that impacts the movie at large.
