Introduction

The music titled "Rock you like a hurricane" by the Scorpions is an excellent piece of art and one of my favorite genres of music (Allen, 2010). I expected the band to start singing immediately, but their way of performance caught me by surprise since they started with an exciting show of instrumentals before singing began. The "Rock you like a hurricane" song meets the criterion for the definition of music. According to Clark, Heflin, & Kramer (2015) music is the appropriate and intentional arrangement of sounds for purposes of entertaining human beings. From the video, human entertainers are performing music while the audience consists of other human beings listening to the music, which fits perfectly to the definition and purpose of music. Other aspects that make the song meet the criterion for the definition of music is the focus on humanity evident from the song title, and the unfolding of sounds over and through time (Clark, Heflin, & Kramer, 2015). This unfolding of sounds is revealed by the way the instruments are continuously played to the end.

I like the combination of the use of acoustic and non-acoustic instruments to produce both electric and non-electric sounds since they enhance the beat of the music. Particularly, I enjoyed seeing the band perform using the electric guitars, drums, violin, and the harp. What I disliked about the music is the quality of the video. The video recording was poor meaning that the appearance of the band was blurry bearing in mind that the rotating concert lights and speedy cameras distorted clear viewing to some extent. The awareness of the various music terminology has affected my listening since I can identify the different categories of voices displayed by the entertainers and get to rate their performance. The mixing of the two performance forces, movies theme and symphony orchestra, was exciting for me since it was a relatively unique kind of music for me. It deepened my enjoyment especially at the beginning of the video, where the band played their instruments with great zeal. The "In my feelings" music video by Drake is my favorite music video since there are great rhythm and flow (Drake, 2018). The artist has a great musical voice and displays his talent effectively. Moreover, the music is much more exciting because it begins with a small dramatic scene, which makes the listeners understand the message.
