I attended the Rock band concert for the first time in my entire life, and it was really fascinating. I got impressed with the style of music and the instruments used in the concert. The details of the event and the songs sang during the occasion were also inspiring, and this made it different from the modern rock concert.
Before I give the details of the concert, I want to introduce the songs sang during the event and their composers. One of the songs performed was 'chain of fools' composed by Donald James Randolph best known by his stage name as Don Covay. Covay was an American songwriter and a singer (All Music, 2018). He was born in 1938 in Orangeburg, South Carolina and later resettled in Washington D.C. in early 1950s where he started his music career (All Music, 2018). While in Washington D.C, he joined his family's gospel quartet, cherry keys. In 1956, Covay joined a secular ban group called 'Rainbows' where he made his first recording. In 1957, he began his solo career as part of the Little Richard Revue when he worked as an opening act and a star's chauffer (All Music, 2018). His singing career thrived when he released one of his biggest hop hits, ''mercy mercy'' in 1964. The following year, the rolling stone recorded his hit song for their album out of heads. In 1974, Covay began to work on his third music album where he successfully released Born to run.
Another song sang in the concert was chain of fools composed by Bruce Springsteen. He was born in 1949 in Long Branch (Marsh, 2018). Although he is an American, Springsteen has traces of Dutch and Italian ancestry. Raised a catholic, he attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic school in Freehold Borough. He developed interest in music when he began listening to Frank Sinatra on the radio. His interest strengthened at the age of seven when he became attached to Elvis Presley on Ed Sullivan show (Biography, 2018). The show inspired him, soon after, he bought his fast guitar. Afterwards, Springsteen started playing for audiences at local venues with a band named Rogues. In 1965, he consulted the house of Tex and Marion Vinyard who sponsored upcoming bands in town. They helped Springsteen become the lead guitarist. Subsequently, he emerged as one of the leading singers of the Castiles (Marsh, 2018). At the age of eighteen, he was called for recruitment in the US army but failed a physical examination that barred him from serving in the Vietnam War. Later in 1960s, he performed shortly in a power trio called 'Earth'. From 1969 to 1971, he performed with still Mill. During this time, Springsteen performed frequently at events in Tennessee, Virginia, Nashville, and a set of gigs in California (Marsh, 2018). Due to his poetic lyrics, distinctive voice, jersey shore roots and long active stage performance, he was nicknamed as ''the boss.'' His musical style is also unique because he draws melodic influences from reservoir of popular traditional American music, blues and folk.
I entered the hall with the hope and expectation that the concert would be interesting. I found a seat in a positioned area where I could see the musicians and the instruments clearly. This was the moment I was anticipating and the time has finally come experience my first live rock band concert. I noticed that people were not very many in the concert. Nearly the entire audience was dressed in casual clothes but the musicians appeared in official clothes.
I also noticed that all the musicians were male except one. A few minutes later, the rock band took the stage to present their lyrical songs. Various instruments including a piano, guitar, and a drum set was used in the concert. The small stage was rumbling with the sound of the instruments: - a guitar, a drum set, and a piano as the band slowly began their performance. Although the hall was not packed to capacity, everyone seemed to enjoy the music. The flow of the music played and the sweet melodious voices of the singers were really amazing. I could not stop dancing to the tune of the musical flow.
Attending the Rock concert gave me an opportunity to experience a new environment of concert which I found exciting. Sincerely, I enjoyed the melodious voices of the singers and the musical instruments. The concert was not only entertaining but also educating through the songs presented. I have never thought I could love rock music but the concert made me fall with it. This was one of my best concerts and I am looking forward to attend more rock concerts in future.
