Moulin Rouge , a movie set during the 1990s narrates the story of a courtesan woman , satin , as she undergoes hardships to earn money , experiences and love but unfortunately , due to her irrational choices she faces tragic consequences at the end . Saltine is a symbol of how women are being treated by the society during the era before post-feminism, where men have more power than the females. As the plot continues, Satine changes from a worthless prostitute to someone who is brave and willing to work hard in life in order to accomplish her dreams. Psychoanalyst theory and feminist analysis are apparent throughout the film. It shows the history of the female and how they utilized their living doing things that show their inferiority and making them be seen the worthlessness. Moulin Rouge clearly shows how the life of the female gender is changed at the end where the woman ,Satine changes her life completely and becomes a superior person like the male gender. He focuses on the male gaze to show the adequacy of the female .This shows how the film has used gender inequality to stereotype more on the female character. Moulin Rouge also gives hope to show that even after much time of the woman being in darkness and doing disgusting things in her life she can still change and become a better person in the society. As it happens with Satine a woman who is much indulged in prostitution to earn a living. In the whole film there is much focus on the female and the challenges she undergoes as her body is seen as objects to the male gaze. The woman is seen as a dependent person who depends in doing things such as commercial sex work , economic capitalism in order to earn a living.Despite Moulin Rouge showing gender inequality and stereotyping of the woman character at the end the woman is seen as an important person in the society and a person who can contribute to better living and economic development.
