Introduction

Prior to scheduling a visit to any overseas country, it is always imperative to conduct a research on the areas that one will be visiting. This is important in helping identify things such as demographics, conflicts, weather, culture, landscaping, wars and safety zones. This briefing paper presents the findings of a research that I have conducted as part of prelude guidance to my church visit in Africa, specifically in Monrovia, Liberia, and Nairobi, Kenya.To begin with, it is important to mention that Monrovia is the capital city of Liberia. It is the most populous city in the country and boasts to have a population of 939,524. Most of the people living in the city are aged between 25-54 years, with the majority of them being women. The indigenous population comprises of around 16 ethnic groups, with the Kpelle being the largest. The city has also sizable population of the Indians, West African nationals, and Lebanese. In terms of the landscape, the city lies Cape Mesurado peninsula, which is located between Mesurado River and Atlantic Ocean.

The weather condition is mostly humid (94%), with temperature being 240c. However, generally, the climate is tropical, humid, and hot throughout the year. The rainy season fall between May and October, although they are sporadic rains in other months. The dry season runs from November to February.

The common attraction sites include, the Mosonic Temple, the Liberian National Museum, beaches, and the Waterside Market. The city has a unique and distinct culture. They celebrate festivals in remembrance of iconic individuals or past events in the nation's history. They observe religious holidays, including Easter, Eid al Filtr, and Christmas.

Crimes are prevalent in many parts of the city, and thus visitors should carefully plan when travelling to the city. Thus, it is important to consider hiring personal security while traversing through the city as well as avoid public transport. Also, it is advisable not to travel at night, since most of the crime incidences occur during that time.

The predominant religion is Christianity. The Christian churches based in the city include Catholic Church and the World Methodist Church. One of the well-known Catholic Church is the Christ the King Catholic Church that is located along the Old Road, Goya Estate. Also, there is the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church that is based in Nelson St, Monrovia. These churches have incorporated modern technologies including live broadcasting, electronic keyboards, and mixers, that can be used for concerts.

Conclusion

Finally, Nairobi boasts countless Americanized hotels including Marriot and Hilton. The Hilton Garden Inn, for instance, is located along Mombasa road, 2.6 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Then, the Marriot Hotel have opened the Sheraton Nairobi hotel in Hurlingham. It is a five-star hotel that located in Hurlingham, Nairobi, an area that is highly secured and lies within the surrounding business areas of Kilimani, Westland, and Nairobi Central District Area.
