Introduction
Religion can be defined as a set of beliefs or even feeling and practices that can be used to bring a relationship between human being and the divinity. A religion can be defined by a specific element of e a group of believers: dogmas, organization, and rites. Most of the religion has beaning developing for the time of revelation basing it on the exemplary nation's history, prophets or otherwise people being taught the ideal of life. Religion can be defined by its 3 major characteristics. Religious practices and the aspect of believers. The feeling of religion like having faith in a specific religion and there third is the unity of the people that share the same faith in a specific religion. In books "the souls of black folks", "the odyssey of homer" and the "holy bible" religion take a central part in all the writing. There is the aspect of these three characteristics. The example in the holy bible God is the central figure of the religious believer, in the "the odyssey of the homer we see different gods of war like "Zeus" who forms a central part of the religious believes. In this essay, I will give a clear argument on how the theme of religion has been brought out.
The Odyssey of the homer
In the Odyssey, the homer gods and goddesses are present themes to the people's lives. There are very many mortal s sacrifices that have been made to the goddesses and gods and hence the god have a great influence on the lives of the characters. The Achilles have religious believes that they believed in Greek gods and they soughed their guidance whenever they went to war with their enemies. The Odyssey starts and ends with various interaction with gods which clears shows that religion makes a major theme in the book. The use of gods discussions among various gods form the start of the Odyssey tell us more about the important issues at a stick and in the end, we see how these gods help solve the problem clearly show that the religion is the main factor that resulted into bringing the solution to the Odyssey. It is important to note that the book odyssey has been used as a moral guide and even a spiritual guidance for many Greeks. The gods are presented as an ethical value and there is lots of courage and generous virtues from all the warriors and the aspect of Homeric gods has originated from form the particular time the Greek religion missed intellectual with all humans' beings. there is also the aspect of religious growth in spirituality. The theme of spiritual grows to form an important part of the narrative especially when it relates to Telemachus and even the Odysseus. We see when the epic story begins with Telemachus lost in a suitor who has taken control of the homer even his life is in danger but he is saved. Religion is the factor in the odyssey throughout the book story the book the 'homer' was trying to show that the aspect of religion and even the ethical values of the Trojan community as the play the most significance in plot development. In the homer, the aspect of warriors attached to religion is clear as we that all warriors use gods and pray to them for gods aid to complete very important tasks in their lives and hence there is a great influence of the gods to the character lives. Their odyssey, however, brings out the concept of religion as a give and take the type of religion from the Greek. we see that the moral and the gods had a relationship that involved sacrifices or even the gods would even ask for something in return.
The Soul of the Black Folk
Religious activities have been long a rooted to different communities we lived in our current world. it is found certainly in almost every ethnic group across the globe. Du Bois is among authors who are fond and inquisitive to ponder into questions perhaps for the development of the black religion. furthermore, the details about the black church as a result of growth from the past ritual. taking a close look at the black religion, it rotated between being the pagan and more traditions rituals and culture in general. Du Bois in the argument, mention about the originality of the negros spiritual rituals to be dating back in Africa despite the fact they seem to be created in America. This is evidently through the uniqueness of the songs which had an African base originality in them. Hence it continues to point out clear on the similarities but should it not be necessary to be Africanize Black America Culture. similarity the author, note and liken the black American preacher to the African priest as well as the medicine men. He was able to trace the black American religion back to Pagan Belief system, particularly in Africa.
In his Chapter of The Faith of Our Fathers, Du Bois had a complexity concerns to the status of the black leader. This was archivable because he was able to put himself into the context of a physician dealing with African culture and the artist who was able to preach sentimental of an oppressed black and giving them the hope, they require in life. In so doing, he could get into the depth of the African culture in terms of their religion matter. He was able to note; black preachers take a good role in ensuring that their subject was in spiritual rebirth as well as the reconciliation that would create a unity of the African Americans that would literally help them particularly to gain self-assertation. The black preacher was described as a leader of the religion as well as an idealist.
Furthermore, Du Bois was able to relate the Black American struggles to be children of Israel in the bible. Their search for the promise land would automatically articulate to the black quest to look for the freedom as well spiritual reconciliation, this act would see the black struggle past in their veils and sacrifices rather than submission to the whites. The author would support the transcendence as an effort in their achievement to put in place of freedom and religious incorporation altogether.
Holy Bible
In relation to the bible, religion has been majorly brought up. The bible being code for a religion and God as the Supreme being who is the creator of these particular people who worship and Acknowledged Him as Yahweh. There is always a consequence in the religion for certain kind of acts. For instance, in the story of Cain and Abel. We are able to note that, jealousy is presented among the brother that would later on end with a catastrophe. Cain killed his brother Abel because of the jealous seeing his brother prayers answered. This would lead to consequences of being cast away by God. Religion activities result in certain qualities of leaders and blessing. As from Genesis 5, God was able to choose Noah to be a leader to create the arch because the people had become wicked. God needed to start a generation that would be able to listen to Him as their supreme God and adhere to His rules. The reward of being committed to God would be creating a covenant together. Perhaps, the covenant was a bounding relationship with God. In (Genesis 8: 20-21), Noah made a covenant with God, which pleases God and He promises never again to inflict flood to the ground because of Human Kind. Religion would spread and pass on to other generation. It's clear it was passed from Adam to the children of God, the Israelites through Noah and his descendant. Religion brings unity. It is certainly shown in the cooperation to build the tower of Babel. Though it did not end as expected, clearly it forms an important aspect in unification. Certainly, religion has featured out clearly in Genesis chapter 4-11.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it's clear that from the all their religious characters have been brought out making the theme religious important. However, is important to note out that religion in all the three has been brought out in a different way but all serving the same purpose. In "the odyssey of homer" and the "holy bible" we see supreme beings who deliver people and have selected people to serve them. According to Du Bois in the book "the black soul of the black" He was able to feature out the origin of black America church. Apart from that, the expound is rather self-reflect of Africa Culture in relation to their religious activities. Furthermore, Black preacher plays an important role in the black community unification. However, there is also an aspect of Apocrypha experience if people disobeyed the supreme leaders. In all religion bring a balance that controls people performances. And in all we the religion is a give and take religion where people have to offer sacrifices to their gods as a thanksgiving.
