Introduction
Gregory Wayne Abbot was born from English descent in Wichita Falls and is 63 years old. He acquired a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Texas and a Juris Doctor degree from the Vanderbilt University Law School in 1981 and 1984. He became paralyzed when he was 26. Abbott worked in private practice between 1984 and 1992, working for Butler and Binion before commencing his judicial career as a trial judge. Later, Abbott was assigned to the Supreme Court of Texas, where he served for eight years until 2001 when he resigned. He was elected as the lieutenant governor for three consecutive terms of four years each before he decided to contend for the governor position in 2014.
The governor is the chief executive of Texas and the commander in chief of the Military forces. The governor's other responsibilities are appointing the representatives of panels and commissions that supervise state agencies, signs acts approved by the legislature, and approximating the funds needed to be collected through taxes. Additionally, he accounts for all public funds that pass through him.
Lieutenant Governor
Dan Goeb Patrick is a 70-year old that was born in Baltimore. He attained a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland and commenced his broadcasting career in 1977. He started as a radio sports host and transited to the conservative radio show that dealt with politics. In 2006, he was elected to the Texas Senate and was reelected in 2010. By 2013, Patrick was the majority owner of two radio stations. He was appointed as the lieutenant-general in January 2015.
The functions and responsibilities of the lieutenant governor are such as controlling the budgeting process and being an ex officio member to several statutory bodies. He coordinates the Texas senate by establishing all the special committees, assigning the senate legislations, and appoints members to the committee. Also, he is a member of the Legislative Redistricting Board. Patrick will be in charge of exercising the governor's official duties if the Abbott dies, resigns, or is removed from office.
Attorney General
Warren Kenneth Paxton Jr was born in North Dakota and is 68 years old. He grew up in different states like New York, Florida, amongst others. He majored in psychology at Baylor University. In 1985, he was elected the president of the Student Association at the university. He later acquired a Master of Business Administration in 1986 from Hankamer School of Business. Paxton worked for two years as a management consultant then registered at the University of Virginia School Law and attained his Juris Doctor degree in 1991. He worked for Strasburger & Price, L.L.P for four years, then J.C. Penney Company, Inc., for seven years before establishing his firm, in 2002, that specializes in estate planning, and real estate. He was elected in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2013. Paxton was elected into the Senate's house in 2013, where he served for two years before he started his tenure as the attorney general.
The Attorney General safeguards the state and its laws by legally representing the state and its people. He is responsible for serving children by enforcing laws that protect children and obtaining justice for Texans by scrutinizing and prosecuting crimes ranging from election fraud to internet crimes. As the Attorney General, Paxton is supposed to protect the consumer rights and social privileges of Texans as assured by the federal and state laws.
