Introduction
Fire is among the leading disasters in the world that normally causes a lot of damages. Fire can negatively impact people on their economic and social life. Economically, fire may slow down the economy through destructions of business structures and other damages that it leaves aside after its occurrence. More costs are incurred during the replacement of damaged buildings when a fire outbreak happens, and that slows down economic growth. Much money is spend while rescuing the lives and the properties of the people in the event of fire outbreak which instead, could have otherwise been used in the development of other sectors of the economy. The displacement impact is realized after fire damages impact the social lives of the citizens. The New Jersey is one of state in the US, recently received a fire outbreak that caused much damages that included consumption of the shopping plaza in Cherry Hill. This paper will thus look at the occurrence of this outbreak and the damages that were realized after the disaster.
Cherry Hill is one of the towns in New Jersey in which fire occurred and caused much damages to the shopping plaza. The disaster happened near one of the blocks that was situated in the East Evesham Road roughly at 10:50 am. From Eyewitness news.com, one of the storekeepers by the name Kratchman who was present when the scene happened, noted that fire outbreak occurred within a short period, and it spread from one building to another and left aside considerable damages. The witness tried to ensure the safety of the place by informing the people to get out of the area and called for help from the department of fire firefighters. From the witness, 'the fire caught the whole shopping plaza within 20 minutes.' Despite that, the exact cause of the fire was not stated, but Kratchman said that the power was off during the night in the building. From his inquiry, they were switching off the power within the building as a result of utility for the construction project that was underway nearby. PSEG spokesperson said that the fire started just after the power was turned back. Three workers were inside the building during the start of the fire, and they all made out safely. From Eyewitness news.com much damages were realized as Cherry Hill Fire Department Chief Chris states, "As soon as the roof collapsed, the fire broke even more and moved from end to end." Cherry added, " It began in the center and went to the whole building when the roof collapsed."
The firefighters responded immediately, and they went ahead to cope up with the challenge of sudden fire outbreak. Regardless of the damages that were caused by the fire outbreak, the good news to the people surrounded by the scene was that the scene ended with no causalities. The main impact that this fire outbreak left aside, especially to the residents of that place, was the closure of some of their businesses.
Based on my argument, the response to the fire outbreak was much correct and timely because it helps in safeguarding the lives of the people who were surrounded by that scene. The owner of the daycare that was next to the building acted responsively and saved 27 kids who were inside. The owner opted to remove the kids out of the daycare building when he first felt the heat getting to the building-the response by the fire brigade help in minimizing the spread of fire from one building to another.
