Introduction

My passion for Mathematics comes from the challenge of problem-solving. To me, the satisfaction I get from systematically working through a complex problem to usually not so obvious solution cannot be matched by any other field of study. Mathematics is not only a continually intriguing discipline, but it is also limitless with new challenges being found every day. However, as I continue to advance my studies, I have realized that Mathematics is much broader than just problem-solving. In the current digital world, numbers mean everything. Every job in the current setting has a digital field which requires a certain amount of mathematical knowledge. Its application to real-world problems is becoming more and more obvious. I believe that studying Mathematics has helped me to develop a new level of comprehension as well as a more rational approach to thinking. Undoubtedly, Mathematics is not only career to me but a discipline that has helped me to become a better person.

Since my childhood, I have learned Abacus mental calculation where I realized the easiness of understanding mathematical concepts. It was at such an early stage of my life that Mathematics started to fascinate me, which made me extremely enthusiastic about studying the discipline at the university. At the high school, I was among the best students in Mathematics. I was also determined to help others embrace the discipline through group discussions. After high school, I have had experience in the real world where I worked at the Wenzhou Bank in Shanghai, China. The three months working at the bank only revealed to me how wide the discipline of Mathematics is in the real world. I also volunteered at the museum of mergers and acquisitions in Shanghai. During the two cases where I worked in the bank and the museum, I realized that I am a quick learner of new concepts. For instance, the knowledge of Mathematics that applies in the two cases is different from the knowledge of pure Mathematics, but this did not prove to be a challenge to me. Other than my studies, I enjoy doing a lot of activities. I tend to believe that I am an outdoor fun type of person. I learned how to swim when I was just eight years of age. Since then, I have always found swimming to be relaxing. During high school years, my basketball skills were sharpened. I enjoy playing the sport when I feel I have extra energy to burn. Because basketball is a fast-paced sport, I compare it to the gym. It is common for me to play basketball regularly, especially when I am in school. Travelling is also a personal favorite activity. Since I came to the United States, I have visited many cities here, including Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Miami among others. Travelling exposes me to different cultures and traditions. Additionally, during my travels, I get to see different applications of Mathematics in various real-life scenarios. Finally, I enjoy participating in social activities in my local community as well as at school. It is the reason why I will enroll in several school societies from the Department of Applied Sciences. Taking part in such activities will improve my learning experience as well as prepare me for my career.

I plan to work as a bank clerk in the future. However, before I can work as a bank clerk, I have to get my undergraduate degree. I chose Mathematics major because it would offer me the necessary skills and knowledge to work in this position. Furthermore, I have already worked in such an environment for three months. However, I plan to progress my career and hopefully work in a management position. As such, attaining my Mathematics major will only be a step in the right direction because I plan to further my studies and maybe pursue a Master's degree in the same field. I know that to work in a management or administrative position, it would require more than an undergraduate degree.

I got my Associate degree in Science at the Heartland Community College. Unfortunately, because of various limitations faced by community colleges, I found it hard to progress my studies at the institute. For instance, the curriculum in the college runs for 2 years, which means I had to transfer to a university at some point in my studies. Additionally, most of the lecturers at the college taught on a part-time basis because most of them were either pursuing a Master's degree in other institutions. Learning resources such as books and library services are also limited at the college.

My obvious choice for my undergraduate degree in Mathematics was Clark University (Illinois Institute of Technology). The university offers outstanding undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs with unparalleled breadth and depth. The programs are taught using a hands-on, reality-based approach where the students get to apply concepts learned in class to real-life problems. The program in Mathematics is a combination of theoretical concepts and practical application. I believe that the course is designed to ensure that students broaden and deepen their knowledge of Mathematics by teaching new and emerging concepts in the discipline.

Clark University (Illinois Institute of Technology) is a well-respected institution which has built on its reputation since its inception. Studying at the university will grant me a promising job outlook because Mathematics is continually evolving to be integrated with various disciplines such as Management, Technology, and other sciences. Additionally, Clark University (Illinois Institute of Technology) has the best learning resources in Chicago such as state-of-the-art library, several labs, and services such as the Idea Center which supports students' learning experience. The Department of Applied Mathematics at the university offers an opportunity to develop my career. For instance, the department offers a wide choice range for applications including Biology, Finance, and manufacturing. Because I aspire to work as a bank clerk, I believe the application of Mathematics in Finance would benefit my career choice. Furthermore, the department offers various research areas, and with funding from the National Science Foundation, I have the opportunity to take part in research.

Because Mathematics is both a theoretical and practical discipline, I will seek to be actively involved in various activities which can contribute to my education including seminars, workshops, projects, and conferences at the university. I hope that I will advance my education further in the future by attaining a Ph.D. degree. An undergraduate program in Mathematics is necessary to advance my career as well as attain my long-term educational goal. I believe I am qualified for the program at your esteemed institution. I wish that you favorably consider my application.
