The decision to undertake the master's program in Business analytics was reached after considering several factors, and most of them can be attributed to the undergraduate program. The first and most important treason is bilingualism. It has increased my ability to bring people together regardless of their color, origin, religion or language. Therefore, by undertaking the master's program, I will be skilled to work with people from different backgrounds and to advise companies on diversity. Bilingualism is also associated with open-mindedness, and this means that I will be open to new ideas that will be included in the master's program. For example, if I meet people from other societies and religions, I will be in a position to negotiate with them and understand their point of view as well as share their ideas. Globalization has increased the need to understand different ideas from across the world and this way it is imperative to have a diversified knowledge base that can help in meeting the needs of the clients.

Fit With Short-Term and Long-Term Career Goals

The master's degree fits in my short-term and long-term career goals because it helps me to focus on the diversity in the society today. My short-term goal is to join the multinational e-commerce companies like Alibaba and Amazon and to work as a business intelligence analyst. My long-term goals include addressing the data analysis challenges in China and to create activities that increase the skills, experience, and employment. Therefore, this course will increase the skills I need to achieve these goals and I will fit in the global market. The bilingualism and diversity knowledge will be useful in my efforts to achieve these goals in the diversified international market.

Past Knowledge and Experience

The knowledge I have gained in my past also contributes to my decision to take this master's program. For example, during my internship at the Research Institute of Oil and Petroleum of Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation in my junior year, I was part of the team that developed a better oil production process. We researched a Slurry-Phase heavy oil hydrocracking process that could convert poor quality oil into useful oil with a conversion rate of over 85%. The skills I gained increased my admiration for technology and how it can change the way businesses operate. If I combine this knowledge with my passion for making changes in the business operations, then I will achieve my long-term and short-term goals highlighted previously. By understanding the way business analytics work, I will inspire more people in my community to undertake this course and I will guide businesses on how to make use of the market using factual information.

In my undergraduate studies, I found that analyzing data is more fun than sitting down in the labs and dealing with chemicals. My training in chemistry was good but business analytics is even better. A combination of my knowledge of chemistry and in business analytics will open my career path wider and make it easier for me to create better impacts on society. Business analytics will also help me to view the world from a different perspective and it will increase my chances to interact with people from different parts of the world. It will also increase my self-actualization as explained by Abraham Maslow and the increased use of technology in the multinational companies presents endless chances for the advancement of my career.
