The population of children and families who receive early intervention in the United States is becoming diverse. Families in the United States are diverse in ways such as culture, the orientation of gender, economic status, type and nature of work, religious beliefs and structure. There are single-parent families, migrant families, gay and lesbian families as well as adopted children, which the ABCX model represents some of the diverse families. Families with diverse backgrounds at most feel helpless and stressful because their values are not respected. Their concerns are not identified and therefore, they lack support from appropriate resources.
