Introduction
Paraphilic disorders are unusual sexual traits or impulses noticeably by the intensive sexual fantasies and urges that are beyond normalcy, which keeps on recurring. The need for abnormal sex appetites may be aroused by unusual objects, unusual activities, or circumstances that are perceived to be unusual by others. Paraphilic disorders are characterized by significance distress. Paraphilic disorder costs someone career and leads to social, political and personal problem that is why it is very important that counseling is conducted on the victims. (McManus, et al 2013)
Interviewing Technique of a Paraphilia
The following techniques are applied when interviewing a Paraphilia since sexual matters seems to be confidential and shamming.
Environmental matters. I will find a place that is a little bit confidential and has some privacy to evaluate my patient without shame and mockery.
Two way traffic communication technique. I will make my environment be an open one to one conversation. This is very important in the sense that my patient will be very open to me, rather than discomforting my patient with one way traffic tack.
I will analyze my patients' body language. This is very important in knowing his or her emotional responses to make me known what to say next and how.
I will gather enough patients' Paraphilic extent damage. This is very important since I this will enable me know the kind of objectives I will be deducing from my patient.
I will avoid taking handwritten notes this is because the writing might confuse my patient given that I will be handling a patient that is faced with psychological sex responses. The method of data collection in this case, I will use tape recorders then analyze the interview later. Type of Psychotherapy Treatment of Paraphilic Disorder
Behavior Psychotherapy
Behavior psychotherapeutic approach is a technique that used by treatment centers that focused in treating and assessing sexually aggressive Paraphilic patients. The technique can be used to treat and asses the nonviolence paraphilias (PAs and PRDs). The technique is usually incorporated other techniques such as cognitive -behavioral psychotherapy, Aversive therapy, and individual therapy. This theory tries to change the habitual sex urge and abnormalities, by psychological advices that are constantly administered to the patient. (Konrad, et al 2013)
Pharmacological Intervention on Paraphilias
Sexual violence patients are best treated through the antiandrogen and GnRH approaches. Alternatively the patients can be treated through pharmacological approach if incorporated with the behavioral psychological therapy, since this tries to nature the social-culture of an abnormal sexual urges and desires.
The commonly exhibited by a Paraphilic disordered patient, may include but not limited to depressive or OCD disorders, and mild paraphilias (Exhibitionism) are treated by the pharmacological interventions. (Thibaut, 2012)
