Introduction
The concept of the relationship between homosexual and religion has been one of the social issues across time and space between and within various denominations and faiths. However, in today's generations, most of the denominations and religions do have different attitudes towards the sexual orientations that keep happening in society. There have been so many practices and actions that have been geared towards opposing sexual directions such as bisexuality and gays to be an act of sin, which can even lead to execution. The religious fundamentalism correlates with the opposing of the gay adoption among different families which was well explained in collectivistic values (purity, loyalty, and authority).also some of the attitudes towards gays has been regarded to be not only of the individual religious beliefs but also by the interaction of those same beliefs in context to the religious background even for few individuals who are not religious (The Bible Tells Me So). However, most of the religious leaders argue that same-sex attraction signs are not sinful. Still, only homosexual acts are immoral, and some of the organizations say that through the adoption of conversion therapy, same-sex attraction can be diminished. This paper will evaluate and analyze some of the teachings and treatment actions towards homosexuals by the churches and religions in the United States.
Conceptual Framework
For any research to be successful, every component necessary has to be incorporated at first through the use of either a theoretical or practical conceptual framework to aid in guide with the study. In this research, there will be so many uses and utilizations of various concepts such as religion, family, socialization, family, and society to help in a deeper understanding of the topic. Some of the themes have to work hand in hand with each other so that there are excellent connections and logical flow of the ideas that support each other coherently.
Since the homosexual issue is regarded as the social problem that many people have different opinions about it more so the religions, the themes of family and interaction come in place to show the correlation of the relationship among the two ideas. For instance, some families have one of their members showcasing the different sexual orientations, and it is upon the family members to come up with the best strategies on how not to lose their family members due to different ideologies concerning the view of homosexuals (The Bible Tells Me So). Also, there is an emphasis on socialization that brings a clear image of how different societies or cultures regarding the actions of homosexuals about their religious beliefs and how to interact with homosexuals in the community.
Analysis
Religions and Churches Socialization Concerning Homosexual
In history, most f the churches and faiths were accommodating same-sex love and sexuality, and that is why the mythologies and traditions are found everywhere around the globe. For instance, the status of the homosexual is seen as ambiguous when it comes to Hinduism faith even though some of the Hindu texts permit same-sex relations. In the year 2009, the Hindu council situated in the United Kingdom released a press conference that said the Hinduism culture does not condemn homosexuality, which means that even the same-sex marriages among the Sikhism are much possible (Cameron-Ellis). Most religious people like to argue their opinions following sacred and traditional texts for counseling when it comes to social issues such as that of homosexuals. Also, from the film is quite evident that most of the religious groups have been holding meetings and campaigns to forbid homosexual practices in the society with concentrate facts that conclude it as a sinful act and prohibit them from socializing with those involved in the actions.
The Intersection of Religious Beliefs and Social Values and Norms Regarding Homosexual
Cultural and social norms act as guidelines or rules that are based on shared beliefs within a specific social or cultural group. Also, the social and cultural norms that help in deciding what kind of behavior should be accepted when it comes to interaction among the people in the community. However, some of the LGBT argue that the orthodox religious believers are among the perpetrators of oppression, whereby they also go ahead and describe the Orthodox Church members are in the religion to marginalize other people's faith (The Bible Tells Me So). Besides, some of the religious beliefs tend to concur with the social norms that a particular society has concerning their attitude towards homosexual ties. They declare to love the homosexual as their fellow human beings. Still, the practice of homosexual is the unnatural act, which is a sin, and they can receive punishment for that or be condemned by God during the judgment day. However, in many parts of the world, some cultural and religions support the idea of same-sex relationships, and homosexual acts more so the liberal Christians (old catholic union of Utrecht and the evangelical Lutheran church in America and Canada).
Society's Values Regarding Homosexual according to their Beliefs
There are so many societies around the United States and all over the world which have amended their laws and values regarding homosexual behaviors. From the film, it's clear that some of the homosexual members have been forced to choose between their family and their sexual orientation, which is among the difficult decision to make in life. Also, the fact that there are some religions and social values that condemn homosexuality, and a person can even be denied some human rights services such as the right to health and some restaurant services for being gay (The Bible Tells Me So).
According to the social values or laws in some society when one family member is a homosexual, they cannot hold any political or government office since the community sees it as uncustomary and is an abomination to their beliefs. Some beliefs and religions deny the values of other societies that argue homosexual is a disorder but instead insist that there are precautions and preventive measures from one becoming a homosexual. Moreover, due to strict societal values and laws, there have been some negative impacts on some families, such as high suicidal rates and separation of families for the lack of understanding of their sexual orientation nature.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there is a significant role that society and religion play when it comes to the issues of homosexuality. The concern of homosexual is a sensitive issue that needs a lot of cognitional thinking involving all the necessary stakeholders to come up with ideal ideas on how to deal with it in different scenarios. Therefore, it is every person's responsibility and right to have different opinions and also get equal treatment despite their skin color or their sexual orientation.
